The “right” to healthcare does not require a doctor to work for free
Med City News ^ | 11-23-12 | Kevin Smith MD

After the election, a lot of people are excited that they can now get healthcare. Or maybe not quite yet, but by 2014, when ObamaCare is fully implemented.

The only problem is that healthcare is not like an Obama phone. The phones are all made by a standard process in a factory, probably in China, and they usually work.

You can use them to call a healthcare provider. But you usually get the ’if this is an emergency, hang up and dial 911,’ followed by the phone menu.

How will this change with ObamaCare? Doesn’t that give you a right to care?

Whenever someone tells me about the “right” to healthcare, I ask, “From whom? From me?” This question exposes this “right” for the robbery and slavery that it is. Take it to the next step. Do you really want to exercise your “right” to healthcare on a physician who doesn’t want any part of this bargain? What kind of care do you think you’ll receive?

I am working on my exit strategy and will be out of medical practice as woo as I feasibly can. I cannot be forced to work for the government healthcare system and will not. Period.

Look for a new crop of affirmative action doctors in the not too distant future. Prolly will have their own union too.

Exactly. If God wanted us to have a “right” to free healthcare, doctors would have been born already educated and trained and would have been given a license to practice medicine instead of a birth certificate. Don’t use drugs. We’ve already got more liberal ‘RATS in this country than we really need.

Liberals do not understand that a “want” and a “right” are two very different things.

Just make sure that you leave your phone number with JimRob in case we Freepers need a real doctor. No joke. I've read reports of doctors who have failed their board exams in India being hired by the NHS in Britain.

Say goodbye to hospital bedside doctors...

We are seeing implementation of interactive audio/video systems installed in patient rooms that are connected by a high bandwidth connection to a monitoring facility in another city that will be staffed with a doctor that is able to watch the streaming medical data from the patient - heart rate, blood pressure(s), oxygen saturation, heart data calculations, etc.

The doctor can pan the camera to talk to the patient/nurse and watch the bedside patient monitor, ventilators, etc.

Just another step closer until it is monitored from a certified Obamacare “doctor” out of Washington DC who can remotely pull the plug on grandma.

You got that right (correct). Also, freedom is a right but we still have to frequently pay for it in blood. Just because something is “a right”, it doesn’t mean that it’s free. Jesse Jackson and Fat Al Sharpton started this “right” crap about going to see a doctor.

“NO....you will NOT see a Doc...you’ll be prescreened by an administrative person, who then MAY let you see a Physicians Assistant, who then will decide if MAYBE you are worthy of seeing a doc.”

Medicare is coming up with strict rules regarding physician supervision of PAs. This will limit the use of PAs, but NPs will still be able to see patients w/o physicians in the building. As far as Medicare is concerned, the idea to to restrict access for old people as a way to reduce costs. The ‘complete lives system’ will reduce the surplus, GOP voting population. Meanwhile, for the time being, Medicaid patients (illegals, single women, AAs, Hispanics) will probably have better access than Medicare patients. It’s all about voting patterns for demographic groups.

It’s what I have been telling folks for years. If you have a right to the knowledge and skill I have spent a lifetime acquiring how do you propose to get it against my will?

There is even talk about robotic surgery. You doc can be anywhere in the world controlling the robot. This way they don’t need as many docs on hand.

Just pray that the PC program does not freeze up at a critical point of your procedure.

It took exactly TWO WEEKS from the election until the letter arrived from our PCP that the practice was becoming ‘boutique’ for a monthly fee, And, of course, they will continue to accept insurance, the premiums for which have about doubled in the last couple of years. But now, for the monthly ‘boutique’ fee, we will have the same time and attention from the docs as we’ve become used to. They are not fools.

And Obamacare will solve NOTHING. The small % of folks who didn’t have health insurance were, probably 95-99% medicaid-eligible, would have gotten healthcare in any case. Alas, now EVERYONE is screwed.

I’m not leaving free republic. Of course by refusing to work for the govt I’ll probably lose my license and DEA #. But FR has a large medical community. We can take care of each other

One of the comments, in case anyone still thinks the marxists can be reasoned with:

Only $285 for six hours? How do you eat? Dont forget we heavily subsidized your education. Get off your high horse and get to work. Everyone is going to make less money now. Youre lucky enough to have a choice. Because you are a doctor doesnt mean you know a thing about health care reform. Pointless post.
