A faux extortion racket usually encounters difficulty when the victims find out what’s going on, and also when new competition (Al Sharpton) shows up.

I just had a horrible thought... Can you imagine if Jesse Jackson and Gloria Allred had a child.

Would the New York Times have written such a lengthy and flowery obituary for a Republican who resigned in disgrace?

I grew up in a house with great expectations, he told The Chicago Tribune in 1995, months before he first ran for Congress. Everything I do has a mark of excellence on it. If I want to be a lawyer, thats not enough, added Mr. Jackson, who has a law degree and a masters in theology. I need to be a Supreme Court justice one day. If I wanted to be an elected official, thats not enough. One day, son, you may be president.
I actually feel sorry for this guy. I hope he finds something to do that feeds his soul and helps him make peace with his life. Like pottery or carpentry. He cannot take a high-pressure job any more if he hopes to get well.

Jesse Jackson Senior has spend his life using the civil rights movement for his own aggrandizement and enrichment, helping ensure that race relations in America never really improve. Now his middle-aged offspring is in trouble and we're supposed to feel sorry for either man? I do hope the younger Jackson can be restored to mental health but he also has to be held responsible for his 'mistakes'. As for Jesse Jackson, senior, his alleged distress over his son's mental and legal problems is hardly unsurprising. However, one can easily believe that he is more concerned with how the situation reflects on him than anything else. Narcissists are like that.

Im sure hes probably on his knees asking God, Where do I go from here? said Carrie Austin, an alderman and an Illinois Democratic Party committeewoman. And the Lord replied: To the Penitentiary.
