The Democrats' Big Problem
The American Thinker ^ | November 24, 2012 | Bruce Walker

Posted on 11/24/2012 12:38:17 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

The left's post-election celebrations are wholly unwarranted.

Consider..................................

In fact, every other Republican seat is in a state which Romney carried handily, while four other Democrat seats -- in New Hampshire, Virginia, Iowa, and Colorado -- came from states in which Romney ran close to Obama. That translates in 2014 into gains, and very likely gains which will translate into a Republican Senate majority. That very fact -- because Senate Democrats can do the math -- means that Harry Reid's plan to make filibusters harder will almost certainly fail: in two years, and perhaps for years thereafter, Republicans may control the Senate.

The House of Representatives was held, and with a clear working majority. This also, likely, is the best shape Democrats will be in in the House for quite a while. The second midterm has uniformly been bad or outright disastrous for the political party which controls the White House. In the elections in 1918, 1942, 1958, 1974, 1986, and 2006, the party holding the White House lost seats (often a lot of seats) in the House. The 1998 Clinton midterm, in a time of prosperity and an impeachment which the gutless Republican Senate punted on, was the single exception to the rule: Democrats gained three seats.

Worse for Democrats, Republicans now control more governorships than before the 2012 election, and these Republican governors are showing a lot of fight on issues like medical exchanges on ObamaCare, Right to Work, voter-identification laws, and tax reform. In a strong Republican 1914-style election, there will be more Republican governors, not fewer, after the midterm.

Even more troubling for Democrats,................ That means that Democrats control only 40 of the 99 state legislative chambers..................

You and me both.

The Republican party is so filled with RINO’s that there isn’t a lot of difference in the two parties anyway.

Also when Republicans have the majority in Congress they do not know how to handle it, and the Democrats run it anyway.

Look at what Boehner has done with the House, Nancy is still running things.

Before we start counting chickens, it is important WHO the candidates are. What difference does it make who controls the Senate if we have wishy-washy RINOs or worse, people without honor?

Scrap Voter ID and go with thumbprint or retinal recognition.

That translates in 2014 into gains, and very likely gains which will translate into a Republican Senate majority.

The election was completely stolen, which negates any actual facts about demography.

This, plus the ELGOP is preaching Hispandering and Jeb Bush for their new Gospel.

It's another slow motion train wreck and we are watching from the caboose.

If we prefer to remain in the caboose grousing, that's exactly what the outcome will be.

Do I need to list the reasons this moron should be slapped?

Here is the problem.
Republicans will not stand up on their hind legs and FIGHT for what they believe in. When the media lashes out and spanks mitt romney as rich man who dont care about the poor. there was no rebuttal, romney didnt hit back. The attacks on Bain went unanswered, there was no mention of Fast and Furious or Bengazi.

I voted in this election yes.

But the Republicans need a candidate to stand up and BOLDLY voice a defense of conservatism. The people will vote for a strong candidate who will LEAD. Not another jelly spined liberal collapsing every time harry reid threatens him with a rhetorical whip. Not another RINO compromising to the left every time the media demands it. We need a candidate who will shut down the government when the democrats demand compromise, and then simply not restart portions of the government when they finally do get back to work. The people will vote for someone that believes in his own positions enough to DEMAND answers, and give simple one sentence responses to the media attacks. The democrats are fighting a political WAR... and the republicans are still acting like there’s negotiation room. When you find a candidate like this then you’ll find be in the voting booth for him or her.

Otherwise, it’s probably better to let this country slide into the arms of the communists. Because the people of this country will NEVER understand the danger they’re in, until they can feel the water boiling. So it’s time to turn up the heat.

We have never really won the mushy middle anyway, we would not be sacrificing much for great gain.

Amen, brother! I am from NC and it is an excellent example of what can happen in just two years! From a Democratic wasteland of corruption, we have just elected only our third Republican governor since before the turn of the century and have veto-proof Republican majorities in both houses of the state legislature. In addition, Doug Forest, a political novice himself (although he is the son of retiring US HOR member Sue Myrick), just won a close election for LT Governor. His opponent was a well-financed black woman who was heavily backed by the NC State Employees' Association. If we will just stick to our conservative principles and use the power that the Republicans have in the "swing states" to enact reasonable voter ID laws, I am very optimistic about the future of the country.

Another reason that I am optimistic is that Obama's second term is going to be even worse than his first. His recent display of arrogance shows that he did not learn anything at all and did not mean a word of what he said about working with Republicans during the campaign. If we do what this article suggests and join the disparate voices in the party into one unified goal, as the Democratic Party was able to do years ago, we can overcome the failures of the past.

One of the most important things is to obey Reagan's number one rule: "Never speak ill of another Republican." The most amazing thing to come out of the election results was the finding that so many voters blamed GWB for the state of the economy after FOUR years of Obama's "misrule". President Bush was not perfect and I did not agree with all that he did, but Republicans (many on this board included) have been as guilty of bashing President Bush as was the media. If a serial rapist like President Clinton can be rehabilitated enough to have played a significant role in helping to reelect Obama, Republicans can resist the temptation to bash GWB and give him credit for what he did right.

I like the way you think. And the grassroots Tea Party (or rather, the Tea Parties that exist as individual entities in our respective communities,) must be careful not to let us be co-opted into a broad organization that carries the ‘title’ but not necessarily the intent. Same for candidates running for office. I don’t want a good think to be painted with a broad brush, or have some political candidate to try grabbing the mantle. We saw that but ooften the warnings came late. I see the need to organize on a larger, perhaps nationl or regionsl level but we must remain vigilant.

Mebbe.

The recent election...where Obama won hundreds of precincts with 100% of the vote....successfully....without meaningful challenge...yet....means that the Dems will be focusing on the further expansion and development of this path to power.

Is there anybody on FR who thinks that if Romney had won, we’d not be hearing all about it, everyday 24/7 the precincts where he won 100% of the vote? And that the issue would be in front of a judge from now until 2016?!

Keep at what? Millions do come their senses. It’s just more parasites keep being born. We shall see. A lot of moochers are waitng for Obama to pull the cord and unleash the flood of goodies coming their way. Many more think the jobs will return. Neither will happen. Even a lot of hammerheads eventually come to their senses. The Dems have promised a lot and are totally unable of delivering anything. Except outright theft.
