I left home this morning at 5:30 to go to the gym. I was pleasantly surprised to see 5 other women at the gym. That was a first. I have always been the only woman all the other years on Black Friday. Maybe women are starting to wake up. I was the only woman at the gym yesterday morning though.
Anyone here on FR who has that ne’er do well family member or neighborhood kid who needs to read/hear what I wrote—feel free to pass it on. Maybe someone will get the picture.
I never shop at Walmart, but today I made an exception and spent 15.00 on some videos just to spite the union.
Daily Marriage Tip for November 23, 2012:
The simplicity movement promotes the day after Thanksgiving as Buy Nothing Day. Celebrate this day by playing games, telling stories, singing, etc. as a family. Even if you still buy stuff on other days, this is a way to honor the spirit of home-made entertainment.
>>So by FR criteria, it is better to buy Chinese mfg shoes than USA mfg shoes from a unionized facility?
Absolutely!! That insures that all money flows to stockholders and nothing goes to American workers. Then, we can wonder why demographics are shifting towards the Democrats. Our goal is a nation with 300 million in poverty and 30 million living like kings.
Walmart sells the exact same items as every other big box store. The only difference is they sell them cheaper and don’t kiss union thug ass while they do it.
Walmart pays better than many of the ‘very few’ union retailers, and they have a lower worker turnover rate.
You got to wonder how many more embarassing failures the unions can endure. They are close to becoming a laughing stock.
They tried to enshrine union rights into the state Constitution in Nov and it was voted down 60-40.
Michigan is sick of unions.
If nobody showed up, the store wouldn’t open.
Because Wal-Mart’s primary demographic demands the best deals (the poor and the middle-class) for Black Friday, Wal-Mart accommodates them.
You can’t harp on one side of the ‘greed’ equation without looking at the other.
/not that I disagree
//the whole Black Friday craziness is just weird to me
I see Black Friday as similar to gambling and I think that is many of the same people who participate, people who hope to get something for nothing or almost for less than it is really worth.
I need to chime in on the notion that retail employees are unhireable and it’s the only job they can possibly have.
Yes, I’m a retail worker. Part time. Have been for some time now. Do I like the job? Most of the time. Do I hate the job at times? Yes. However, I really do believe that every person in America should be forced to work at least one holiday season with the public screaming in their faces.
I’m not paid minimum wage nor am I forced to work where I work. I’m not treated poorly because I’m a woman. I am treated with respect by my coworkers because I treat them with respect. I really don’t have a beef with management. Some are good, some aren’t. If I showed any interest in moving up, I’d be given the chance. I’m happy doing what I do. Customers are another issue. There *are* people who just like to put down anyone, whether it be a retail employee or anyone else. It’s just par for the ocurse. I smile, tell them to have a nice day, sometimes say Merry Christmas and simply move on.
I know people who work at Walmart (I don’t work there). I really never hear any complaints, other than the usual complaints we have about the public, usually rude people.
The next time you’re shopping anywhere, remember.........that person you’re hoping loses his or her job because they’re not doting on you, well, it might be me.
By the way, I think probably 99% of my coworkers voted Romney.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I am not lumping in all retail employees with the Walmart employees. I am just saying that Walmart tends to give people a chance for employment, where other retailers, especially union retailers, would not. Walmart hires older workers, mildly handicapped employees and people on probation, that no one else would even interview for a job. Maybe that isn’t the case in all Walmart stores, but that is the way it is where I live.
and the Walmart employees are grateful for the opportunity to work, not unhappy with their employment at all. I know because i went to Walmart and asked several of the employees how they felt about working for Walmart.
America keeps on going regardless of craphead union thugs,Wefare cheats, a overreaching federal government, militant homos, radical libtards, media meatheads and of course...barack obama..
It was nice while it lasted..America that is.
the black friday sales were great because people were desparate to get them. Regular holiday sales will be in the tank.
From the testimony of some people I know, the crowds disappeared mighty quickly after the initial doorbuster rush, and now there is plenty of parking and aisle space in our local south Florida stores.
Obamanomics is a DISASTER.
