Russia sent a detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet to the coast of the Gaza Strip in order to evacuate Russians in case of escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, a source in the main command of the RF Navy said.

"The detachment of combat ships of the Black Sea Fleet, including the Guards missile cruiser Moskva, the patrol ship Smetliviy, large landing ships Novocherkassk and Saratov, the sea tug MB-304 and the big sea tanker Ivan Bubnov, got the order to remain in the designated area of the Eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea for a possible evacuation of Russian citizens from the area of the Gaza strip in case of escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict", -the Agency's interlocutor said.

Yes, and I’m not at all as confident the tiny Israel is as invincible as some think. And as far as Russia’s rusty, and somewhat dated warships, You can run around all over the place in rusty ‘ol boats and not worry too much when you have ICBM’s with nuke warheads on them, to back you up. And, yeah, Hitler thought the Russians were chicken, too.....
One of the worst mistakes a country can make is to underestimate an enemy’s ability to cripple them. (IMHO)

The Moskva is a large cruiser. Pretty capable at ship to ship warfare with good defenses.

The Smetlivyy is an old Kashin Class Destroyer which is pretty antiquated late 1960s vintage with some updates.

The Novocherkassk is a Ropucha class LST and the Sratov is an Alligator class LST...both relatively small and old, dating back to the 1970s.

So, this Russian naval group is not too powerful outside of the Moskva. It is capable of defending itself and can offload or rescue several hundred civilians. Each of the LSTs can run up on a beach and carry about 150-200 Russian MArines.

No comparison to any modern US group, and some of the more modern, larger Israeli frigates could give them a run for their money, especially with Israeli air force aircraft assisting.

The scripture you quoted: Ezekiel 38 - “... art thou come to take a spoil?”

This scripture follows the facts: (1) Israel has been attacked (not the recent event) - and (2) in return it retalliates against the “attacker”. After Israel attacks, the whole world will come out against Israel. Gog and Magog will gather all the nations from the north and descend upon Israel - in order to destroy Israel - once and for all.

I believe it is the western nations who ask the Ezekiel 38 question of all the eastern nations gathering in the Valley of Miggido in order to strike Israel.

So .. there are two major events to take place before Ezekiel 38 is asked. Have no idea what that timetable is.

We have 3 ships there .. maybe it was making Russia nervous.

Our president may be ignorant .. but our military sure isn’t.

Come on man, that's a really fine piece of ( * cough * Crap ) machinery there.

Noticed the word MOCK if you look closely ?

Maybe they sent there ships there to be used as target practice and use it as a excuse to get into a war with the US or Israel.

There were that many Russians in Ghaza? Just there to show moral support and eat at the 3-star hotel’s restaurant, of course. Is it possible they’re also dropping something off? Naw./s

Sometimes you guys just get too excited. These vessels will transit through the Suez as per their original anti-piracy tasking. Nothing odd about the warships being in the area or the type of vessels deployed. This is simply part of the Black Sea Fleet Task Force that is on its way for anti-piracy duties off the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Aden.

Prior to the deployment some of the task force was exercising with NATO country Italy. The vessels transited into the Mediterranean on their way to the Gulf of Aden long before the current Gaza hostilities.

Russian Navy command deploys two task units of Pacific Fleet (PF) and Black Sea Fleet (BSF) in order to accomplish combat training missions, ensure Russian naval presence in key regions worldwide, and secure civil shipping off Somalia......

Prior to that some elements were exercising with NATO elements in the Mediterranean.

Currently the Black Sea Fleet Tanker Ivan Bubnov is hove to off the entrance to the Suez Canal. The main force of these vessels will transit through the Suez to continue with the on-going anti piracy patrols.

Here in the UK I can pick up the Morse Code weather transmissions from some of the Auxiliary vessels. The following is Russian Navy Tanker Ivan Bubnov. Positonal info stripped out from international weather transmission.

Putinist Russia recognizes Palestine as an independent nation. Putin's Russia says that HAMAS are NOT terrorists!

The Russians in Gaza are probably military advisers. Just like when Putin sent a muslim battalion to Lebanon to serve as "peacekeepers" to protect Hizballah from Israel.

The west stood by when Putin sent his muslim Chechen battalions into Christian Georgia to rape, massacre and exterminate thousands of innocent Georgian civilians. Israel even stopped selling the Georgians weapons to try and appease the savage mindless Russian animals, but they will now learn that satanic genocidal mass-murderers like KGB Putin can never be appeased.

It may well be that the tugs are needed in case any of the larger Russian landing craft don’t have the ooomph to back off the beach. OTOH, Russian naval craft have frequently been observed towing eachother which tells you a lot about the durability and skills of the crews.

Also take a look at Russia’s financial support of Iran, their support of Assad, their alliance with China... There are a lot of things Russia has been doing for years that have been pointing in the direction of being involved in the Middle East. You have to realize that it’s not necessarily out in the open, but will be when it comes down to it. Russia has had their hands in the Middle Eastern “pie” for quite a while now.

Both Obama and Putin want to COW Bibi.

Well, guess what? Even if the US and Russia combine against Israel, they cannot be a match for Israel’s power. They have become enemies of Israel and Jehovah. Thats not a very good place to be.

And now watch what happens.

The Russian Anti-Piracy Task Force is still on schedule to transit the Suez on the 27th November

The Russian Navy Tanker, Ivan Bubnov, is still sending Morse Code international weather broadcasts. Still hove to off the Suez Canal. What normally happens is that the Auxiliary vessels will stop sending weather once they start to transit the Suez. This weather denial will remain in force until they re-enter the Mediterranean after their anti-piracy deployments. The Russians regard the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, etc too risky to transmit international weather that contains latitude and longitude.

The International weather code in use.

The recent reporting from the Russian Navy website stil has the Suez transit scheduled for the 27th November.

At present, BSF task force consisting of Guards missile cruiser Moskva, destroyer Smetlivy, landing ships Novocherkassk and Saratov, and auxiliary vessels has completed first stage of the long-range cruise in eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea and finished preparations for the anti-piracy mission off Somalia. The task force will be reinforced by Pacific Fleet (PF) task force in early Dec 2012. The ships finished preparations for the cruise to the Indian Ocean on Nov 24; passage of the Suez Canal is scheduled on Nov 27.

They did get their asses kicked by the Japanese at Port Arthur. Other than that the Russian navy is famous for mutiny.

In fact they scored well against Swedes and Ottomans before. Port Arthur was a surprise attack, much like a Pearl Harbor(thus it is a little excuse considering Russian overall poor performance during Russo-Japanese War).
