Anti-Morsi protesters torch Muslim Brotherhood offices

Protesters set fire on Friday to the offices of the Muslim Brotherhood, the party of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, a day after he assumed broad new powers not subject to appeal. Pro- and anti-Morsi rallies erupted in cities across Egypt. Protesters torched Muslim Brotherhood offices on Friday, state media said, as supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Morsi staged rival rallies across Egypt a day after he assumed sweeping powers.

The offices of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the Muslim Brotherhood's political arm, were set ablaze in the canal cities of Ismailiya and Port Said, state television said.

An FJP official told AFP the party's office was also stormed in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, where clashes broke out between rival demonstrators.

In Cairo, an array of liberal and secular groups, including activists at the forefront of the protest movement that forced veteran strongman Hosni Mubarak from power early last year, planned to march on Tahrir Square, Cairo's iconic protest hub, to demonstrate against the "new pharaoh".

Morsi's backers led by the powerful Muslim Brotherhood gathered outside the presidential palace in north Cairo in a show of support for his decision to temporarily place his decisions above judicial oversight.

"The people support the president's decisions," the crowd chanted.

Morsi was mulling an address to the nation defending his decision later in the day, aides said.

On Thursday, the president undercut a hostile judiciary that had been considering whether to scrap an Islamist-dominated panel drawing up a new constitution, stripping judges of the right to rule on the case or to challenge his decrees.

The decision effectively places the president above judicial oversight until a new constitution is ratified.

Wow! Maybe this is why Morsi suspended the rule of law?

"Clinton was sympathetic to this argument. Soon after, President Obama was on the phone to Netanyahu with an assurance that US troops would be in place in Sinai next week, after he had obtained President Morsi’s consent for them to go into immediate action against Iranian smuggling networks."

The Egyptians at least protest these dictatorial actions.

Here Obama has done similar things with executive orders, etc. and the media doesn't report it so no one hears of it. And we who do hear about Obama’s communist dictator acts, all we do is post some comment on sites such as this on the Internet and then quickly move on to another topic. When will we all get together and protest on the streets, take the fight to the streets here in the U.S.A. against these communist thugs called democrats?

“Obama had much to do with installing the Muslim Brotherhood in power in Egypt and is, no doubt, watching approvingly as his creation blooms.”

Sometimes I’m a little slow on the uptake, but now that I have read up on and understand what all of this ME meddling by 0bama and crew really means, I am TERRIFIED about what lies ahead for us!

Looks like we have some sane Egyptians who do not want to see their country become another Gaza or Lebanon and will fight to the death to kick out these murderous thugs. Good! Unfortunately for them Obama is not on their side. Sad.

Arab Winter. Why did they oust Mubarak again?

Well, an encouragingly large number of Egyptians seem to be asking that very same question. There's not much point in overthrowing a dictatorship only to have it replaced by another one. The pro-democracy movement isnt beaten yet...

Even the EU brought itself to make an immediate condemnation of the move. But our man Barry? I don’t think we’ve heard from him or very likely will, since he presumably backs it.

I suspect that this is part of a deal between 0bama/Hillary and Morsi. Morsi gets Humas to settle down so 0bama/Hillary can claim a great victory on the cease fire and in turn they give Morsi the green light to consolidate his power.

Yea, and we have a whole lot of Freepers who consider Romney’s defeat a victory.

And we have a lot of Freepers who think that bashing Tea Partiers and SoCons will help the cause of Conservatism. Good luck if you run another squish like Jeb.

In case you think I'm some kind of "squish", I supported Rick Perry at the caucus and in recent times I supported Fred Thompson, Steve Forbes, and Phil Gramm--hardly RINOS.

But after my guy loses the primary, I'm going to be all in to defeat the RAT, who will ALWAYS be worse than the Republican. You go ahead and call me a RINO and a "squish", I don't care, because I know better. I'm going to call anyone who refused to vote against Obama to be a narcissistic dumb ass who cares more about themselves than their country.

That'll help you get their votes next time. NOT.

Some freepers aren't Republicans. We're conservatives.

GOP wants my vote? Run a conservative.

If the GOP wants my vote, they need to run a conservative. Period. Yelling at me or calling me names isn't going to help you get what you want.

In the 13 years I've been on FR, the GOP hasn't run a presidential candidate I could vote for.

Why am I not surprised. You are one of those sanctimonious holier-than-thous who have helped give us Obama and then you want to pretent you're more virtuous than the rest of us.

I allege you're just dumber.

BTW, who would you vote for? Just asking? Does it have to be the one you want or you'll continue to protect the RATs and the destruction of our country.

This piety is killing our country.

I will vote for any candidate that is pro-gun, pro-life, has a history of reducing government, and doesn't support socialized medicine.
