Egypt's President Mohammed Mursi has issued a declaration banning challenges to his decrees, laws and decisions.
The declaration also says no court can dissolve the constituent assembly, which is drawing up a new constitution.
President Mursi also sacked the chief prosecutor and ordered the re-trial of people accused of attacking protesters when ex-President Mubarak held office.
Egyptian opposition leader Mohammed ElBaradei accused Mr Mursi of acting like a "new pharaoh".
Mr ElBaradei said the new declaration effectively placed the president above the law.
"Morsi today usurped all state powers and appointed himself Egypt's new pharaoh. A major blow to the revolution that could have dire consequences," the Nobel Peace Prize winner wrote on his Twitter account.

Problem is, Muslims in both the PRC (China) & India are the smallest of minorities. The almost four (4) billion Chinese & Indians will have no trouble getting rid of a nasty little problem. And....beware....they may do this to us also. The USA has become an Obama “pablum” (They just laugh off Obama and scratch their heads as to how dumb Americans can be), problem for both China & India!!!
If you doubt my read of coming history....just research the past history of both of these 7,000 year civilizations. And.....remember......American college students have very little education, or background of knowledge in American or World history, thanks to the Obamabot, Democrat & Liberal educators.
In China you are correct (1-2%), but in India, Muslims make up 13.4%, a higher percentage than blacks in the US.
China could take care of its Uighur problem in a generation by making sure that the only available employment was elsewhere in China, and only for single Uighur girls.
