Interesting that it’s not an “empty glass”, but an “empty glass of beer”! Sad for the man’s family, including the newly widowed newlywed bride.

Well we know two things for sure. Since it was in Brazil it was caused by global warming and of course, it was Bush’s fault.

Some ‘old’ comedian (Skelton?) had a routine of a drunk with a bottle of whiskey in his pocket.
Someone pushes him down and he gets up and feels liquid on his arse.
Crying, he says damn, the guy with him says “Quit moving around and the bleeding will slow down”...

“BLOOD? Thank God, it is only blood”.

No one had a tie for a tourniquet?

If it was high enough in the groin there might not be a good place to put the tourniquet. After that you are stuck with the option of packing in the wound which takes a lot more training.

As an aside, I just took a day of training from a couple of SF qualified medics where they talked about tourniquet placement. The old school way was to place tourniquets 2 inches above the wound. The new thought on the subject is to put all tourniquets high on the limb.

The femoral artery and vein course down through the groin area on either side. If quick and appropriate pressure is applied to this region plus use of a tourniquet perhaps this bleeding out death could have been averted.

not celebrating the groom dying, but this may have just been the happiest married man ever.
