More Americans Will Use Food Stamps For Thanksgiving This Year Than Ever Before

More Americans will use food stamps to buy their Thanksgiving dinner this year than ever before, according to a new report from the nonprofit government watchdog group The Sunlight Foundation.

The Food Stamp Challenge, which challenges higher-income families to live as if they are on food stamps, estimates that a person on food stamps has a budget of about $1.25 per meal. In other words, a family on food stamps must buy an entire meal per person for less than the cost of an average cup of coffee.

Usage of food stamps among low and no-income families has spiked since the collapse of the U.S. financial system four years ago. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, average participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp program, has increased 70 percent since 2007. And economists have warned that usage of food stamps won't go down until unemployment improves.

The Food-Stamp Crime Wave http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304657804576401412033504294.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop

From the USDA website :

“Thirty-five states have abolished asset test” sounds like you can have a home and lot, but not more than $2,000 (or $3,000) in a bank account.

“Households may have $2,000 in countable resources, such as a bank account, or $3000 in countable resources if at least one person is age 60 or older, or is disabled. However, certain resources are NOT counted, such as a home and lot..”

So just go spend down your bank account and buy some 22” spinner rims for your Escalade, and you’ll be fine.

I see these heifers in WalMart all the time. Their buggies are jam-packed full. The milk, butter, bread, eggs, cereal and cheese are all WICs certificates. No charge.

The rest is a collection of the biggest set of junk food and easy-lazy food prep items one could imagine. Cheese doodles, chips, ribs, hamburger (lots), nachos, hot dogs, macaroni, Frozen Pizza, frozen chicken wings, any kind of quick junk food you could imagine. It is why these lazy ass girls are so fat.

None of them will EVER work again! It’s why the vote for Obama. Section 8 rent (they won’t call it Section 8 anymore because it ‘stigmatizes’ so they call it ‘housing vouchers’), TANF - more EBT charge up money in addition to SNAP, Heating assistance, free telephone, EITC for when they actually claim over $600 for babysitting, etc. (nets up to $4-5K free and clear if they file). The sad part is the children they use to maximize their booty. They will grow up just like them.

This country won’t last 50 years with the likes of these.

I saw a blurb about a breakdown of a welfare queen compared to a working man with a family of four in MS making $45-50K/year.

The welfare queen actually had more spendable income with all the federal programs that threw money at her vs. the poor working man. This is disgusting. She should be in prison and ‘fixed’.

What do you expect?
What’s easier to get, A or B?

A) Food Stamps
B) A job

Daily I see people with the “disability” tags hanging off their mirrors and they are in damn better shape than I am!

Actually, the majority of them are not that smart to think that far in advance. The ones in control now, the elite liberals want power and money and control over conservatives. They also want revenge against the white ‘man’ along with their idiot constituency.

Look at Slick Willie. He’s content to suffer the embarassment of hawking for Obama (one who he’d joked should be getting him coffee years before) because he wants to maintain his power right up until he dies, which BTW shouldn’t be too long - he looks like he has aids.

The others, the voters just don’t give a damn. They don’t give a damn about their kids, because if they did, they would marry their momma and provide for them instead of using them to get more government benefits. They don’t think past the next pack of Newports, the next ‘40’, the next lotto. They may or may not know all their kids’ names, but you can bet your ass they know their Social Security Numbers when it comes time to file for EITC HoH.

In short, they are just plain too friggin stupid to comprehend what the impact is of what they are collectively doing. A damn shame, but the epitaph for our country, I’m afraid.

You see these heifers in the store? I thought a heifer is a female which hasn’t given birth, but a cow is a female which has given birth? Aren’t they really cows then?

Millions thanking King Obama for the handout. Promised to vote to extend President term limit to infinity and reelect him as permanent dictator in 2016. We haven’t a chance since Rush and others have it right. King Obama purchased millions of voters and they will never change back.

The New, Newer, Newest Normal.

Last 4yrs were only a “prep course”. Next 4yrs are the “main course”. So-called “Fiscal Cliff” won’t do squat; they’re already factored-in to benefit 0bummer&CoRegimeFromHell. SHTF might.

Yeah...semantics I guess. They act like they’re single when they trying to get knocked up with another meal ticket, though. Curious, I hardly ever see them with their kids in tow nowdays. They must be in government day-care (Pre-K) in our state....

Ok. I haven’t posted in a long time, though I’ve been lurking.

I lost my job in June. Since I didn’t have much savings, and I knew the miserable state of the economy, and that I probably wouldn’t find a job very quickly (my field is one of the worst to be in right now), we signed up for food stamps right away. I can say from my experience that the statement in the article you’re citing is complete garbage. It’s the height of journalistic dishonesty. We’ve never had more money to spend on food than we’ve had since going on food stamps. It’s not only well over 1.25 per meal, and not only adequate, it’s luxurious.

I’m not naive about the media’s lies but I’m shocked by that paragraph. That number has to be completely made up. Most higher income people won’t know how much food stamps provide, and most food stamp recipients won’t reveal what suckers people who pay for their own food are.

All one would have to do is look at how fat virtually all food stamp users are.

When I was working next to the welfare office, their secretary told them what they could do with her job. She had worked there for years and finally got fed up with all their clients taking home more freebies than what was in her paycheck.

Monday, after doing the grocery shopping, I posted here that the entire cost of tomorrow’s meal came in at just shy of $35. That included a 21 lb bird, all the sides and a guess at about $5 for seasonings, celery, milk, flour and various incidentals I already had on hand. Nothing, other than the $1/lb turkey was on sale or had a coupon so that was all regular prices. That will feed us all and there will be plenty of leftovers and more for the freezer. IOW, Thanksgiving shouldn’t cost anymore than any other homemade meal and should be less with the birds always at a good price.
