PETA to Obama: Don't Pardon Turkeys...(Don't worry! Turkeys can't pardon turkeys)
Yahoo News ^ | 11/20/12 | Sarah Parnass

It's a White House tradition with a century and a half of history behind it, but PETA is asking the White House to skip it this year. Today President Obama is set to pardon two turkeys - Cobbler and Gobbler - just as every president since George H. W. Bush has. The tradition finds its roots in a moment of sympathy Abe Lincoln's son, Tad, had for their table's turkey back in the 1860s. Now Ingrid Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, says the turkey pardon has got to go. "It makes light of the mass slaughter of some 46 million gentle, intelligent birds and portrays the United States' president as being in some sort of business partnership with the turkey-killing industry," Newkirk wrote in a letter sent to President Obama today. "Turkeys do not need to be 'pardoned'-they are not guilty of anything other than being born into a world of prejudice. They are innocents who should be respected for who they are: good mothers, smart birds, and interesting animals."

Humans eat meat and vegetables. We evolved that way. It’s in our nature. Our brains evolved to be as complex as they are largely due to our eating meat.
Peta and the other wackos be damned!

For once I agree with PETA. The President should not pardon the turkey. He should swing that axe himself, and be openly thankful for the generous sustenance God provides thereby.

Said the woman who believes it is perfectly fine to slaughter tens of thousands of innocent babies each year through abortion.

Will no one weep for turkeys #3 and 4 who are now condemned to the president's dinner table as the price for pardoning turkeys #1 and 2?

Ben Franklin initially wanted the turkey as the national bird

"For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.

"With all this Injustice, he is never in good Case but like those among Men who live by Sharping & Robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank Coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the District. He is therefore by no means a proper Emblem for the brave and honest Cincinnati of America who have driven all the King birds from our Country...

"I am on this account not displeased that the Figure is not known as a Bald Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America... He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on."

0 does not deserve to be compared to a turkey.

Ben Franklin was talking about the wild turkey. That’s a dumb domesticated turkey on that emblem, one of the dumbest creatures around. And it fits Obamagabe.
