I store water for events like last week when the main had a break up the street (without warning, of course). Be danged if I'll be inconvenience by an outage.

But if you can't make potable water from local sources, in large quantity, you are fairly screwed.

Ponds here are lower than I’ve ever seen; many are dry. Creeks have only a few stagnant holes left. Wells in the creek basin would be the only back-up if rural water shut off.

I have some pump jacks, leathers and such I stashed back in Y2K days.

Primitive wins a lot of country battles.

That's the problem with the Southwest WATER! Even if you can make it potable you have to get to it. And water holes in a SHTF situation would quickly become like watering holes in Africa the predators favorite haunts.

I have to do more in my prep work. Nearby water is not an issue, a number of streams, etc. within a short walking distance. And I have a small amount of purification supplies, etc.

For the life of me, I don’t know why peope flock to areas like Phoenix, etc. One of my least favorite cities, for those reasons, like living in a desert fishbowl..
