LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (CBS Atlanta) — Charlie Brown has been caught in the crossfire of the “war on Christmas” mantra.

Well if Christmas is to be celebrated in public school then I hope you won’t object to your child also celebrating a few major Hindu, Wiccan, Muslim, and Voodoo holy days as well.

Scenario. Kid comes home from school. Wow mom look at the picture I drew today. See, this is the Voodoo priestess praying to the goddess. Uh huh. We learned all about it cause today is a big holy day for the religion of Voodoo.
And we even had like pretend magic potions to drink and we danced all around too. It was fun mom!

Scenario two. Hi dad I had fun at school today. Today is an Islamic holiday. So instead of Arithmetic we saw cartoon of this kid who went on a pilgrimage to this place were thousands of Muslims pray to the Holy Rock. I prayed to the rock too but I was pretending.....kinda like.

That's what I liked about the movie The Princess and the Frog. It drove home in no uncertain terms that messing with Voodoo was evil and destructive.

What has changed? We should not have been celebrating Christmas in the public schools in the first place, What about the Jewish kids, And the Jehovah’s Witness? Were their beliefs celebrated?

Those were the days of Christian privilege. Yes “privilege” is the proper description. Those days are fading.

Don’t get me wrong. I will fight to the death for religious freedom. But taxpayer money should not be spent for the promotion of ANY religion. This in my mind protects Christian kids from the above scenarios. YOUR kids should learn about their faith from YOU or at church. Your job is to see to it. It is not the job of the public schools to foster religion of any kind.

Have had it as well. So; 'dear parents'; keep your freaking kids home.

Or do; what many parents feel inclined to do; if not forced; when their values clash with those proscribed by public education 'group think'. Go the full nine yards and Home School. Whereby; you are FREE, totally; to protect your child's atheism from 'undo' influences/covert 'values'; etc.; as might be found in a Charlie Brown Christmas. . .viewed in a Church; yet.

Too bad; but they should be thanking the Church; for teaching the very tolerance they demand and get from 'non-atheists; versus that which they offer to those 'Faithful'; whom they refuse, by turn; to tolerate.

Where do these people think 'Value' and Virtue (and yes, that virtue of 'Tolerance') came from? An athiest?

I feel so blessed that I grew up when I did.

You said the Pledge Of Allegiance. You prayed. You celebrated holidays. No controversy.

I recently read that certain groups deemed Charlie Brown as too violent. Alrighty then. Let’s look at what they watch now.

One crazy atheist got rid of prayer in public schools. My teachers read the Bible to us each morning and we prayed. We pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. We sang God Bless America. We didn’t need “resource officers” (cops) in our schools. We didn’t have metal detectors. Not one girl in my high school ended up pregnant. Now we have day care centers in high schools for students’ babies. My church started by holding services in my elementary school on Sundays. We had fish on Fridays at school for the Catholic kids and no one complained.

It is people like you who have helped destroy America with your “fairness” crap. America was built by Christians on Christian values! You can’t change the facts.

But Obama was right, wasn’t he. America is no longer a Christian nation. And it shows!

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

I agree w/ you completely! I am an agnostic, but I remember the charm of our Christmas pageants in school and in elementary school I was in the choir & we would sing “Let There be Peace on Earth” & other songs. We had an innocence back then.

I would not give it back for anything. I have to say “A Charlie Brown Christmas” makes me cry like a baby. My husband got me the complete Charlie Brown holiday DVD gift box a few years ago.

Come on, let's face it. I'm sure there are enough religious holidays during the course of a school year so as to have something different happening every day.

You gotta admit that the children's exposure to world religions would teach them some morality (except islam) and would certainly consume all or most of their classroom time thus depriving them of the hideous socialist indoctrination they are currently getting.

Children shouldn’t be pulled out of school to go to a church and view an overtly religious program.

Here’s how I see it. If a child wants to pray over her lunch at school during lunch hour, say a Catholic making the sign of the cross and quietly praying. That is a first amendment right. But that is entirely different from taking a whole class to a movie that has for it’s theme a Christian Holy Day. They need to be learning to read, write and spell, not having parties.

You take your kid to that movie! You teach your child about Christ and Christmas. That is Your job not a public school teachers job.

I feel sorry for the kids today, they do not realize what it was like in my generation growing up in the 50’s and 60’s.... Celebrating Christmas in school and a nativity scene on the school property and not even being aware that some people might be offended! Where has our Christian nation gone?

Merry Christmas to all! May God Bless American again soon....

Oh, you want them to get an education!

You'd have to send them to a Catholic school for that.

When I was a kid we learned about Christmas in school. It didn’t harm anyone. It was my favorite time of year (I hated school) and I wasn’t raised to believe in God and my parents never thought it a terrible thing that I was taught about Christmas.

These atheists are fiends in human form.
