Economic Disintegration is Almost Here (Huge company layoffs announced in response to elections?)
American Thinker ^ | 11/20/2012 | Monty Pelerin

The disintegration of an economy and a society can take two courses. One course is like rust. It is slow and barely perceptible. The other is a sudden collapse. The first course, if left untended, eventually turns into the second.

The US economy is now rusting away. Arguably it has been for decades. For anyone interested in looking, the signs are there. They will soon become unavoidable for even the most disinterested of our citizens.

Dan Amoss correctly described what is happening as a result of Washington's overbearing involvement in the economy:

*******

All government-directed economic activity grows at the expense of the private sector. And the election suggests that government coercion will drive even more U.S. economic activity in the future. This is a shame, because freely adjusting prices, competition, and innovation elevate living standards. Mandates, price controls, and subsidies - coercive actions - depress living standards. Quality falls. Shortages develop and persist.

*******

Mr. Amoss is correct but does not forcefully convey the reality of a dying economy. These effects are beginning to appear.

Since Obama’s re-election: over 100,000 layoffs at more than 125 businesses (so far)

Announced Business Closures Since Election:

Actual Layoffs:

Bankruptcies:

This list should frighten every thinking American. It is a huge warning regarding what lies ahead. These changes are coming to an economy that is already unable to provide jobs or sustain living standards.

Decline is a slow process, until it becomes fast. It is not easy to see at first. It should be obvious to most that our economy is approaching a critical stage. When you have destroyed the trust and confidence of business, there will be no job creation.

Unless you have figures to compare with pre-election it will have no meaning to the liberals and they will merely scoff in your face and say this is normal and that you are just reporting layover and clings which naturally occur. I know how they think because I visit a hobby site where there’s an overabundance of them and am tired of hearing them praise Obama as though he a god and can do no wrong (the Emporer has no clothes on BIG time) and being extremely blasphemous to God.

So Obama’s policies did absolutely NOTHING to get the economy going in his first four years, and now he’s ready to really begin the stranglehold of regulations. What fool believes things can get better under his policies? Just take a look across Europe and see how well socialism has fared.

It’s gonna be another bumpy four years.

It’s 1936, but without the moral foundation, and fewer constitutional impediments. The new FDR already packed the court.

I know I can walk away but it’s the best site of it’s kind for what I’m interested in.

RE: The new FDR already packed the court.

we better pray that Scalia, Thomas, Alito and (grudgingly) Kenney stay healthy enough to continue working for the next 4 years.

With one of them gone, the SCOTUS tilts left and will be like that for another generation.

Yeah, they will just say someone like Bain Capital raided those companies and the 47%’ers lost their jobs.

without the moral foundation, and without the self-sufficiency skills of the people of that era.

People are going to suffer and die, big time.

Will this be factored in to the next unemployment report?

I expect to see another major collapse soon after Obama is immaculated.

Probably not. Remember they produce the figures for their news people to report.

Did a quick look through the list and saw only one entity that is not a private company. City of Findlay Ohio.

Guess the government layoffs will come all at once when the money runs out.
