(CBS News) WASHINGTON - CBS News has learned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) cut specific references to "al Qaeda" and "terrorism" from the unclassified talking points given to Amassador Susan Rice on the Benghazi consulate attack - with the agreement of the CIA and FBI. The White House or State Department did not make those changes.

However, an intelligence source tells CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan the links to al Qaeda were deemed too "tenuous" to make public, because there was not strong confidence in the person providing the intelligence. CIA Director David Petraeus, however, told Congress he agreed to release the information -- the reference to al Qaeda -- in an early draft of the talking points, which were also distributed to select lawmakers.
"The intelligence community assessed from the very beginning that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack." DNI spokesman Shawn Turner tells CBS News. That information was shared at a classified level -- which Rice, as a member of President Obama's cabinet, would have been privy to.
An intelligence source says the talking points were passed from the CIA to the DNI, where the substantive edits were made, and then to FBI, which made more edits as part of "standard procedure".

This was changed to try to protect Obama in the lead up to the election. I don't know whether it was ordered by Obama or if the Director of National Intelligence just knew what he was supposed to do for his boss without being told.
Questions to ask President Stand-Down at his next presser:
1. When did you learn of the attack on our Ambassador in Benghazi?
2. Where were you during the hours that the attack occurred?
3. When you learned of the attack, what were your specific orders?

No doubt in my mind that FBI aka Eric Holder did the dirty work for Obama in editing those talking points. Obama/Holder/Jarrett are the triplets running our country. The new American trinity. gods of their own making.

So the CIA and DNI sat there and watched the President and the Sec of State (Hillary Clinton) go out and make a commercial and go to the UN and blame a video on Youtube?
If Obama and Hillary don’t have a better system than that, then I am really skeptical of anything they tell me in the future. I thought they were both smart, but evidently they are easily misled. Even to the point of misinforming the country and world about a major security issue. And right before an election too.
Makes me nervous that Hillary is out there in the Mid east
talking to anyone if she is out of the loop that much of what is really going on. We should nickname her “Sleepy” Clinton. Because evidently she was asleep for two weeks when this occured.
CBS IS the spokesperson for the Obama Whitehouse. They don’t need to say that someone else is a spokesperson. They sit and get their stories written by this administration and everybody knows that!

There is no distinction between the WH and the Obama Administration, except with MSM.
The Obama lapdog puppy that wrote the headline must not have read the story. The story bears little resemblance to the headline. A more appropriate headline would be: “Obama Administration Rewrote Benghazi Story”
Who cares what group was responsible? The point was not to peg a specific group but to acknowledge that it was an organized attack and not some random protest over a video that no one had seen. This is stupid.
As for Clapper, duh! He is the one who told Petraeus to resign due to an extramarital affair. How many CIA directors in the past have had extramarital affairs? I would wager that more were guilty than not guilty.
Now can we determine where the video nonsense came from because that story was cooked up before 9/11 and before the crazies started burning flags in Egypt? Who created this excuse, and why did the administration take away the security from Libya without replacing them? Why did the administration set up the ambassador to die or be taken hostage?

I was wondering why CBS,NBC, AP, Reuters, MSNBC CNN none of them have even asked about the old guy who is in jail for a year. Can he receive visitors? If so how come none of them have been out there to ask him about his video?
They all sit there looking hip and sipping on their $5 Starbuck Latte waiting for the Whitehouse to hand them the next story that they have written for them. pitiful.
Old David Gregory was getting pretty emotional Sunday when it looked like he wasn’t selling the Whitehouse B.S. to the Congressman. He almost had a hissie fit right there on the spot.
