Orlando Health to cut record number of jobs to save money [Obamanomics Strikes Again!]

For the first time in its nearly 100-year history, Orlando Health is reducing its workforce by up to 400 positions starting immediately, hospital officials announced this morning.

The elimination of 300 to 400 jobs will occur in two phases, and represents a 2- to 3-percent decrease in the system's 16,000 employees, said Orlando Health spokeswoman Kena Lewis. The reductions affect all departments and all eight of its hospitals, including Orlando Regional Medical Center and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

The first wave of employees affected by the "labor expense reduction" portion of the initiative received their notices Friday, said Lewis. The next wave of downsizing will happen after the first of the year.

Orlando Health treats a disproportionate number of no-pays and low-pays ... and Medicaid. (Compared to Florida Hospital/Adventist.)

Plus I’ll bet their fund-raising/philanthropy has been a good bit down.

NET: even when you are a no-for-profit, you gotta cover your costs, and revenues weren’t keeping pace before, and now are guaranteed to be even lower.

AFFORDABLE care act. HAH!

LOL—all of those people in the health care industries that voted thought their jobs were safe. Too bad tough toenails for them. And for those that remain be prepared to be overworked and understaffed with no raises.

Obamacare means less healthcare. Fewer new facilities will be built, and existing facilities will be scaled back. Just as predicted (and anyone with any sense knew it would happen).

It’s affordable because it won’t be available.

GE Healthcare just nuked 130 people in Milwaukee, WI and 50 in Burlington, VT.

My running total is now over 94,500 since the election.

As a result of the Affordable Care Act, more Floridians are going to have health coverage, not fewer, so there will be more paying Floridians in the system,” Goodhue said.

Dolts! I retired last year after 40 years as a registered nurse. Under the affordable death watch program more people are going to be released into a $100 system with a $5.00 bill in their pockets. Sadly my former hospital has been slowly not hiring replacements when folks move on, and the last pay raise I received was in 2006. Oh well it was a great career but the American people were warned. Most of the staffs I worked with understood the danger Obama posed, not in the benefits for us, but the health care we would be forced to perform. Don't think I wanted to be the one to watch vital clients told that just because they were older that they could no longer receive the level of care that other generations have received. Its going to get tougher before folks get smarter.

That’s okay, unemployment benefits and food stamps act as stimulus to the economy.

Thanks SoFloFreeper.
