Republican Brothel Owner Who Employs 80 Prostitutes Wins Election as County Commissioner in Nevada

Brothel owner who employs 80 prostitutes wins election as county commissioner in Nevada... and he's a Republican

Lance Gilman is a thriving businessman with dozens of employees. That those workers include a good many prostitutes didn't faze the people of a rural Nevada county who recently elected him as a Storey County commissioner by a wide margin.

The Mustang Ranch brothel owner is the first such owner to win election to public office in Nevada since prostitution was legalized here in 1971, Nevada historian Guy Rocha said. And he's believed to be the first to do so in the state's 148-year history.

'He's in rare company,' Rocha said. 'Of course, it's going to be rare because the business of selling sex for money is illegal in every jurisdiction in the United States except in rural Nevada.'

Some two dozen brothels legally operate in 10 of Nevada's 17 counties. Prostitution is illegal in the counties that include Las Vegas and Reno, the state's population centers.

Gilman, 68, a self-described 'dye-in-the-wool Republican who loves American values,' said he encountered few objections to his Mustang Ranch ownership during his campaign in the county of 4,000. He won with 62 percent of the vote on November 6.

He is a married father of four with nine grandchildren. All but one of his children, including one of his daughters, work in the family business.

His claims that his bordello, located along Interstate 80 some 10 miles east of Reno, has contributed more than $5 million to the county's budget over the past decade. It has 44 full-time employees, and 30 to 80 working girls, depending on the season.

To 99 percent of the voters, they view it as just a business,' Gilman told The Associated Press. 'It's a prosperous business that's helped the county.'

I understand your indignation...I do.

But it is not the domain of government to legislate base morality.

That is the domain of religion and ethicists (never actually known one of those, however).

You don't know the details of that...or if you do, please provide source so we can all investigate.

She is most likely in management or operations...not on the floor (so to speak).

“They should be shamed, mocked, ridiculed, shunned by society.... Hopefully they will give discounts to AIDS patients, it’s the neighborly thing to do!”

I don’t imagine Whore was their first career choice. Sadly waiting tables and other minimum wage jobs don’t cut it anymore.
I guess for these women whoring beats starving.
Why should they be shunned or mocked or ridiculed?

Their customers should receive the first share of shame, mockery and shunning.

If prostitution were legal in other places many crimes committed by prostitutes and their pimps would dissappear along with girls who are forced to work to supply their drug habits.

I agree.

If I were so inclined, I could buy the same services for more or less the same price in any small or large town in America.

The difference with this guy's place is that he has some control over the environment.

There is a lot to say for that.

Then your problem with my post is what?

You are okay with people not approving of things right?

A degenerate, creepy, immoral RINO being called names on an internet forum doesn’t cut it? But being a PIMP is just fine??

I've been trying to get "shunned" for decades.

If that what it takes, I will do the road trip.

women in those joints are for the most part doing it because of their drug habits....most of them have been doctored up and siliconed up to please the "customers" ....

when Male on Male prostitution houses or female on female prostitution houses are as plentiful as male on female, then I'll say the American capitalist system is working, sadly so....

but if male on male prostitution houses were plentiful, and they came after the 17 and 18 yros in HS...you know, as an alternative to actual work or college or the military........I bet a lot of people would suddenly find a conscience and a moral backbone..

but since its just "girls" its just one big joke...

I don't think God is thinking its a joke...

“seriously?”

Yes seriously. Why would I want to mock, ridicule, or shun someone who is trying to earn a living.

Yeah I was sure it was closed - it had had a chain and padlock on the front door, and a sign warning “No Trespassing - US Government Property”

You’d have thought it was Area 51 or something.

From what I understand, the range of services is relatively expensive - $1,000 and up, depending on the time and the nature of the menu asked for.

But for lonely truck drivers just passing through, might be a bargain....

Democrats give it away for free

WRONG

Democrats want the taxpayers to pay for it.

What I don't think you get is that a lot of these morality pimps would rather be surrounded with the real pimps and all the real nameable victim crime associated with the prohibition if meant they get to watch people with badges and body armor stomping a mudhole into someones ass on a regular basis for not living the way they want them to. Some people need that to feel better about themselves.

“trying to earn a living”??

...like child traffickers? drug dealing gangs? illegal alien invaders? ACORN?

If they are doing something immoral they need to be called on it.
