Worked real good for the GOP in the 1980's, didn't it? The GOP went along with amnesty, and Hispanics crapped all over the GOP anyway. It's about who can give Hispanics the most freebies.

Amnesty will just make more people for more free stuffin future generations. Those people won’t vote Republican/Conservative. It will solidify a permanent Democratic electorate base.

This is one of the two blatant falsehoods that the GOP establishment buys into today. The other is assuming that by abandoning social conservatism and trumpeting fiscal conservatism will somehow win them more minority votes.

Hispanic voters overwhelmingly tend towards democratic affiliations. Opening the flood gates of immigration in the hopes of convincing a 75%+ democratic voting block to vote republican, especially when amnesty would disproportionately favor the poorest (and hence, most interested in government handouts), is akin to saying:
“Well, we record a big loss on each sale... but we’re hoping to make up for it in volume!”

You’re simply not going to engender some great, lifelong “forever-gratitude” by extending citizenship to all comers. Instead, you’ll be giving free votes to the party of free stuff. Bread and circuses will win those votes, not gratitude, and not any miraculous rising sense of fiscal conservatism.

Another popular myth is that social conservatism is a losing issue, and hence why the GOP establishment has scoured the party for the two most liberal, leftist, politicians it could find to run for the presidency. See how well that has turned out?

The fallacy that fiscal conservatism and social liberalism will attract a higher share of the Hispanic vote is laughable. Hispanic voters are, as a whole, very socially conservative, and very fiscally liberal. I recall a poll mentioned recently that asked GOP registered voters to agree or disagree with something akin to the following statement: “I would support paying higher taxes in order to support a government that provided more services”.

What was telling was that among GOP voters, white GOP voters disagreed at the rate of about 83%, but a majority of Hispanic GOP voters actually AGREED.

In our own party fiscal conservatism is a losing issue when it comes to the minority vote, whereas social conservatism is the tie that binds, but somehow the air-headed establishment is still living in some country-club fantasy world that drinks up every popular myth put out by the liberal media.

As a result of these insane, laughable fallacies the party establishment taps liberals to run for the presidency - and then acts shocked when conservatives stay home instead of rushing to the polls. McCain and Romney don’t just reach across the aisle, they LIVE THERE. They’re liberal democrats that are too white, too male, and too straight to make it in the racist, sexist, heterophobic democratic party.

You ran a liberal the first time around(McCain), and when that failed, you ran the more liberal liberal (Romney) that couldn’t even manage to beat your first liberal(McCain). How’d that work out for you folks? And, somehow, at the end of the day, the brilliant political strategists in the GOP assume that somehow flipping off conservatives and telling them to shut up, swallow their bile, and vote anyway wasn’t the problem, noooo. Somehow the strategists assume that the problem was that they simply had candidates that were too conservative.

What we’re seeing with these twin issues, the issues of amnesty and the issue of turning the party’s back on the social conservative base, are functionally akin to choosing which method of political suicide is better for the GOP - hanging or slitting the wrists. In neither case will the GOP gain votes, and in either case the GOP ensures that it will never again win a national election.

What good are citizens going to be, ones whose first acts in this country were disrespecting American laws and, by doing so, disrespecting Americans?

we need to find ways to import conservatives or make the “path to citizanship” process more conducive to right leaners.

It really was a black lashing but hey, the democrats don’t want amnesty for blacks so what the hell, let’s fall for whatever they say.

It’s amazing how the GOP falls for every illogical attack by the democrats. Hispanics vote against you so make 30 million more of them instant citizens. How about, don’t make them citizens for that very reason?

Here’s a mental exercise: Imagine what democrats would do to illegal immigrants if Hispanics started voting republican.

” It’s about who can give Hispanics the most freebies. “

Nailed it... That’s the formula: give’m free stuff, hang around with their heros and celebs, say bad things about the opponent, and act like the most popular person, and they will vote for you everytime.

Immigration reform is silly - worked real good for California.

RE :”MSNBC political analyst Chuck Todd predicted last week that “immigration reform” will get “80 to 90 votes” in the U.S. Senate after the GOP’s great Latino lashing of 2012.
“Republicans will run, not walk, in trying to support that now,” Todd said.
So far, it’s been more like tiptoeing. House Speaker John Boehner told ABC News a “comprehensive approach” to immigration “is long overdue.”
“This issue has been around far too long,” Boehner remarked, apparently bored with musty old things like borders, national sovereignty and the rule of law....
.....
Hispanics have a high labor force participation rate, but are nevertheless disproportionately poor. In 2011, more than 40 percent of Hispanics reported that they lacked health insurance, which makes Obamacare potentially appealing.
Low incomes force families to rely on government assistance. According to one study, “Households with children with the highest welfare use rates are those headed by immigrants from the Dominican Republic (82 percent), Mexico and Guatemala (75 percent), and Ecuador (70 percent).”
One survey found that 73 percent of Hispanics opposed cutting Medicare spending and 83 percent preferred to deal with the deficit by raising taxes on the wealthy in conjunction with some budget reductions.

Promises of tax cuts for the rich (Romney's main trick) didn't get Hispanics to vote R so amnesty will. I am sure all these poor Hispanics will vote for 'tax cuts for the rich' if we just give more of them the vote.

What could go wrong with this plan?

Opportunity, not security. When our economy collapses and the people lose their security, they’ll be clamoring for opportunity. We need to end the free lunches for the good of all.

You have analyzed the situation correctly. I heard a Hispanic caller on Rush’s show basically say that Hispanics believe Government to be the source of wealth.

And they vote accordingly. ‘Pod

Teaching is the only way this can be done and convincing them our philosophy is best for them and everyone else - and end this racialization of everything. Don’t ask me how to go about it, but it is the only way. A hand out war won’t work - that isn’t our brand.

Mitt Romney was one amnesty for illegal immigrants away from becoming president of the United States.

Mitt Romney was never going to win this election. He wouldn't have won had he promised amnesty. Republicans will never win the presidency again.

The combination of massive voter fraud perfected, and entire voting blocks bought and paid for with government programs (yes, "gifts"), will win every time from this point forward. Elections no longer mean anything.

Sadly, the idiot Republicans will still help to pass amnesty in 2013.

The the very successful Hispanic adoption of the decades old Black mantra of “racism” is creating competition for that white conscience welfare dollar. That has put their respective leaders in increasingly contentious position of going after a bigger bite of the same size apple.

Republicans need only to keep their conservative core as internecine battles inexorably tear apart the Welfare Party.

When is the treatment of American citizens in Mexico and their rights vs US treatment of Mexicans going to be an issue when we discuss amnesty ?

Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.

Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.

Americans can’t own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash they’ll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the “fresh”. That’s just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea let’s give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in Mexican elections
