As many as 1000 Service Employees International Union (SEIU) workers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are considering going on strike on Thanksgiving eve in what is the busiest travel day of the year.
Andrew Gross-Gaitan, the director of the Southern California Airports Division of SEIU, said the protest would be in response to an LAX contractor that failed to comply with the citys Living Wage Ordinance.

Private sector union strike=job loss for workers.
Public sector union strike=we all lose.

Couldn’t be Ex-LAX. They don’t give a sh*t. Taking the day off just before the busiest traveling day of the year is scummy, not sh*tty.

You can figure around 200k will travel in or out of LAX on Wednesday, and be affected. Everyone of them will remember the day, and the people involved. It’s just another negative mark on why unions aren’t a good thing.

What happens when several hundred stranded passengers inside the terminal find out that the few dozen people on the picket line outside are resonsible for it?

This should be publicized as the action of an Obama ally. SEIU is one of Obama’s main armies.

No doubt about it. I took special pleasure in helping to crush their forced dues skim in Michigan last week.

Per
LA Weekly:
Airport workers who have that day off, or airport workers who are
getting off shift or start a shift later on will be participating, but the
workers that are currently on the clock will not be walking off.

i don’t think obama asked for this one, though. remember the “you owe us” union message after he won? in that same vein, they want to state “hey we’re here and we can raise havoc if we want” in case obama gets weak kneed.
i would love, love, love to see the unions and obama get into a massive cat fight.

if anything that has to be a bummer for the adjacent-shift workers who are being told to go there and picket. because many of them certainly had other plans for that time, during this busy holiday season! way ta go, goons.

Everyone of them will remember the day, and the people involved. Nonsense. Far more than half will blame the evil contractor who wouldn't give in to union blackmail. That's the way the union biz works. Union employees not collecting trash? Don't blame them - blame the city that won't give them everything they want. Union employees not running snow removal equipment? Don't blame them - blame the city that won't give them everything they want.

We have a small department at my work and they belong to the SEIU. Almost everyone else including me are not unionized. I have made it a point to never look a SEIU employee in the eyes when speaking with one of them. It drives them crazy! It’s a lot of fun!

Striking to improve working conditions is one thing. (I don’t think the working conditions at LAX are poor) Striking during a tough economy to improve self is selfish and they should be fired. There are millions of unemployed workers that would gladly take their position and not impact the traveling public. When the unions force a strike, everyone loses except for the union bosses, who could care less about the average union worker (except for their dues),
To: ColdOne
there are no more twinkies to be had, although there are some estimable generics around.
