MARK LEVIN: TEA PARTY ONLY THING THAT STANDS 'BETWEEN LIBERTY AND TYRANNY'
Breitbart ^ | Nov 16, 2012 | By Tony Lee

Posted on 11/17/2012 2:12:38 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Conservative scholar, talk radio host, and former Reagan administration official Mark Levin said conservatives need to first overthrow the Republican establishment to more successfully take on President Barack Obama and the institutional left.

“We cannot get through Obama and the left until we get through the Republican Establishment,” Levin said, railing against establishment consultants who attack the base and politicians who know nothing of “Burkean reform” because they have spent their whole careers “clawing their way to the top.”

In a talk at the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday with his mentor, former Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese, for whom Levin served as Chief of Staff, Levin said the Republican Party is, “devouring the conservative movement,” and the old bulls need to step aside in favor of a new generation of conservatives who are fluent in conservatism.

“It’s time for the old bulls to get out of the way and for the fresh faces who believe in conservatism and liberty and originalist principles to step up,” Levin said, criticizing those like House Speaker John Boehner for “yielding territory” to the left in negotiations.

Levin said the Tea Party consists of constitutionalists, libertarians, Evangelicals, and those who are against the rigged establishment, beltway culture that for too long has not embraced conservatism and, as a consequence, lost national elections (George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney).

“The Tea Party is the only thing that stands between liberty and tyranny,” Levin said. “We have to defeat the Republican establishment mush in Washington, D.C.”

I’m glad that Levin addressed Governor Palin’s prominent role in conservatism, we will need her and the tea party in 2014.

When discussing the future of conservatism, Levin highlighted in particular Texas Senator-elect Ted Cruz and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, among others.

“I love Sarah Palin,” Levin said.

“You see how intelligent she is?,” Levin asked, noting that Palin is nothing like the caricature of her on the left and in the mainstream media.
Levin said Palin should be given credit for effectively and enthusiastically articulating the conservative cause, even though she has been attacked by the mainstream media and the Republican establishment.

“Yet, she still rallies the base a hundred times more than these people telling us what we are supposed to do,” Levin said.

It seems to me that the Tea Party is but a concept with lots of talk and absolutely no action. With out action, the Tea Party has no real effect

The fervor of two or three years ago has dissipated

Well, let’s all get it ginned back up, unashamedly.

The Rats can’t be the only folk around that can gin something up, or we’ve been outginned. We can’t hope to win on classiness alone, or Mitt would be the president-elect now.

Levin is one of my heroes. I have more respect for him than Rush and most other radio commentators. Thomas Sowell is my favorite journalist.
Good to know we have a few constitutionalists left

Then we're screwed, because what I saw of the Tea Party in 2012 was pretty weak. The kickoff meeting in Dayton was attended by maybe 40 people---down from hundreds the previous year. With a few exceptions, they were all over 50. I didn't see a Tea Party presence---and this is the city that in 2009 had the second largest Tea Party rally in the nation---except for one billboard. I saw no Tea Party walkers in the burbs where I live, and yet the Republican turnout was not high as we know. We mobilized at the spring 2012 county level to put in the head Tea Party guy here as county chairman, and he was to put it mildly a flop. He didn't tell everyone that he had a) just gotten married and b) started a law practice and he had no time whatsoever to give to the election.

I heard the same thing from a group just outside of Cleveland over the summer, that their numbers were down a lot. Except for Ted Cruz, most of the Tea Party candidates did not do very well. Mandel lost; Mourdock lost; Aken's Tea Party opponent didn't even win the primary. West is likely to lose. So, while I'd like to think it's a force, right now it isn't.

Until or unless the Tea Party can mobilize people at least 15 years younger on average, it will not have much impact.

Well, the tea party or something like it will rise again. Liberty loving Americans are not going to stand by doing nothing as the usurping Marxist Obama and his socialist democrats, aided and abetted by worthless RINOS, continue to destroy our beloved nation.

Have faith, me friend. We are the resistance!!

An oath is forever!!

The key latch to all of this, and all of the change we know must come about to save this Great Union is the media. They hold the power to make or break this rescue.

What, pray tell are we to do to take them down more than a few notches? Their megaphones scream daily into the ears of young and old alike. The message they shout is nothing but lies and propaganda, and IF we don’t silence that siren, it will hasten our demise as a nation...

The (more or less) independent conservative media must step it up a notch or two to compete with the MSM propaganda machine. Rush, Levin, Drudge, Breitbart, Red State, NewsMax, WND, IBD, NY Post, Wash Times, Free Republic, et al, must get louder and even more conservative. We must make a bee line to the constitution and speak directly to the people. Down with the liberals! Down with the RINOs!!

As Mark says, despite their claims to the contrary, Obama and the democrats have no mandate from this election. The CONSTITUTION is the mandate!! The voters cannot vote in a presidential election to throw out the constitution.

The Stupid Party intentionally went out of its way to remove all references to the Tea Party at the 2012 Republican Convention... and look what it got them in November.
