...Congressional officials familiar with the briefings told the Associated Press that Gen Petraeus testified that security at the consulate was so lax that the attackers walked in and set fire to the facility.
Security at the CIA annex was much better, the AP reported, but the attackers had arms and broke in.
Republicans were also critical of the Obama administration's handling of security situation.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio said Gen Petraeus testimony showed that "clearly the security measures were inadequate despite an overwhelming and growing amount of information that showed the area in Benghazi was dangerous, particularly on the night of 11 September 11."

“Walked in and set fire to it”? They were described in the first reports as having bombed it to break down the wall before they could even get in.
His report makes it sound like they were just strolling around with a book of matches and decided to “set fire to it” as a kind of prank.
And Petraeus doesn’t know “which government agency and when” removed any reference to terrorism?
Petraeus is still covering for Obama. Too bad, he could have redeemed himself.

When are people going to reveal the truth about the Benghazi attack. It wasn’t terrorism, it was, “workplace violence.”

There was no surprise about the attack. There was no 'failure of intel.' The attack was predicted in precise detail a month before it occurred. The draw down of security had to be intentional.

Stevens presence in Benghazi on 9-11 had to be intentional.
Sorry General...we already knew all of that.
A group of people with automatic weapons ATTACKED the consulate and came in through a hole in the wall they had blown in it the month before.
The State Department, yourself, the Pentagon, and the White House knew all about that and denied requests for more security.
So, please...get on with the program.

I’m interested which path Petraeus is going to take with this. Does he throw obama and his cohorts to the wolves at his own expense? Or does he sell out to obama to get a way out? I guess it depends on which circles he was running in to begin with. Options, always options.

Seriously, if Vince Flynn wrote a novel with this plot, it would be his last because no one would think this level of incompetence and corruption would be credible.
I thought the hole was blown in the wall in an earlier attack- June or around then, when they started seriously asking for more security.
I don’t see how people at this point can know excatly what tack Patreaus is taking, since only little bits and pieces are dribbling out, said by others.
Of course many people are much smarter than me, but in my mind, we don’t know exactly what Patreaus said or didn’t say today, at this point. What do you think?
