They thin another company will buy it up and restore their pay and benefits. Seriously.

“5000 idiots cost another 13,000 people their jobs. Not to mention the jobs that will be lost in the surrounding communities.”

First of all: HELLO, CC! Still holdin’ down the conservative fort in MI? :)

Secondly, we had a string of a half-dozen calls on local
(The People’s Republik of Madistan) talk radio today telling of how they or a family member is directly impacted by this company closure. All the way up here in little old Wisconsin. Go figger!

If Hostess is smart, and the unions haven’t completely bled them dry of operating cash, why not start up with the same products (they OWN those trademarks, correct?) under a slightly different name as a NON-Union shop? I would, but then, I’m kinda vindictive that way, LOL!

On all the various 'Rat message boards, they're sniveling and whinnying about how "it's all about those Hostess bastards maximizing their profits on the backs of the poor, downtrodden, exploited workers."

"Profits."

In a company that's declared bankruptcy (TWICE!), mind you. ;)

My wife sees these folks at the Rocky Mount Wal-Mart all the time... using the EBT to buy better food than she’s buying with honest money, then taking it out to load it up in a better car than she’s driving...

I saw two Hispanic ladies load up their shopping carts. The second paid with EBT, and when the balance exceeded what was on her EBT (I think the first one, who was older may have also used EBT), she whipped out an American Express card. EBT... don't leave home without it.

They were on Strike. You can’t collect.

There's nothing prohibiting them from filing for UI benefits and HR won't waste it's time protesting the UI claims because they will have more important things to attend to..........

Yep. What profits?

They were offered 25% stake in the company for a short-term 8% pay cut. They decided that Obama-Phones, food stamps and Section 8 were a better deal.

The unemployment was near 15% in one area. That means that there are no jobs.

We crushed the union ballot proposals on election day so that’s something.

I just read today that some 380 indirect jobs will be lost here in Michigan because of this idiocy.

Quite a few crossed the picket lines to try to keep the company afloat. I would guess that those can draw unemployment.

I hope they mean “relief” as in “now we know which way it’s going, and we can respond to it.” Sometimes the not knowing is worse than the diagnosis.

Twinkies could have survived a nuclear war, but did not survive unions.

A union strike is more destructive than a nuclear strike!

“Of course 1939 has something to do with that train of thought and we all know us ‘old fartz’ are just plain stoooopid.”

I come from a long line of Old Farts, and I miss them every day as I pack my lunch and head out to work. :)

I am so very GRATEFUL to have had a Dad and, not one but TWO, Grandpas just like you!

*HUGE HUG* Thank you! God Bless You! :)
