Warren Buffett, put your money where your mouth is

I don't know about you, but I have had enough of people like Warren Buffett encourage the increasing of taxes on "the rich" people who make less than he does. Sure, he has endless wealth from which to pay, but while others may also have a lot, theirs will run out much more quickly, leaving fewer people to start businesses (that whole "trickle down economics" thing he doesn't believe in). He has stated that he'll be donating his wealth to charity when he dies, but why wait until then, when America needs it now? By being made to give up all but $100,000 of his net worth, he could do much to save America. Why not make those whose net worth exceeds $40 billion to give up either 99% of it or all but $100,000, whichever is greater? I mean, he wants taxes raised on the rich, right? And I'm sure he could take that $100,000 and make a million out of it before too long, anyway.

I'm sure this will probably go nowhere, but the statement ought to be made. Until there are 150 votes, the petition will be hidden from public view, so you can access it here: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/institute-99-tax-all-individuals-whose-net-worth-above-40-billion/fkCPjz2k or, in short form, http://wh.gov/XkCk.

I read once that if the Keystone pipeline doesn’t go through that they will put the oil in barrels and ship via Buffet’s trains.

They won't use barrels to haul the oil, they will use tanker cars, which they are doing now from the Bakken field and one reason Union Pacific is so profitable, one of Warren;s many companies.

I imagine he's had a few Buffett sized loop holes built in to the tax code over the years, along with obamacare waivers where necessary, so I doubt things like what obama wants to do will touch him.

He might even end up cornering a new market or two thanks to his political advantages, regardless of which side wins. Best government money can buy?

The dirty little secret is that if the so-called Buffet rule were enacted it would have little to no impact on the amount of money that Buffet would pay in taxes.

The most recent financials that I could find shows that Buffet was paid a salary of just $100,000(his usual base pay) and director fees of $75,000. Hence his income is less than $200,000, and the Buffet rule would not increase the amount he pays.

If they really want to get money from the Rich they should Tax the net worth of the individual, and tax their freakin’ foundations.

Hey Warren, I just did my healthcare selections for next year. Thanks to obamacare my costs are up about $500 over last year. Want to help redistribute the wealth directly Warren? Send me a few hundred.

What about all those companies, governments, unions and people that have been granted waviers? Do they have to pay the ObamaCare taxes?

I doubt Buffet pays top rate. When you own companies you can shift your expenses nicely on to the corporate expenses, so at a stroke reducing your net income and the company’s net income (thereby reducing taxes) yet living at the same quality of life...

IF????

His trains are shipping oil now, both in the US and Canada. He’s minting money from it.

His money is behind the advocacy groups opposing Keystone.

These rich guys are one in the same with the State.

*********************************************************

See my post #9. Buffets salary and director fees income is less than $200,000, so I don’t think he pays the top rate either, and I also doubt the “Buffet Rule” would impact him in any material way.

Yes. Though to be fair, he doesn’t live a very super-rich lifestyle from what I’ve read
