WSJ: Petraeus pushed out after defending CIA over Benghazi?
Hot Air ^ | November 15, 2012 | Ed Morrissey

(via Instapundit):

In David Petraeus’s final days at the helm of the Central Intelligence Agency, his relations with chiefs of other U.S. agencies, including his boss, National Intelligence Director James Clapper, took a contentious turn.

At issue was whether the CIA should break its silence about its role in Benghazi, Libya, to counter criticism that increasingly was being leveled at the agency and Mr. Petraeus, said senior officials involved in the discussions.

Mr. Petraeus wanted his aides to push back hard and release their own timeline of the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi and a nearby CIA safe house, seeking to set the record straight and paint the CIA’s role in a more favorable light. Mr. Clapper and agencies including the Pentagon objected, but Mr. Petraeus told his aides to proceed, said the senior officials.

By all accounts, the driving force behind Mr. Petraeus’s departure last Friday was the revelation about his extramarital affair with his biographer. But new details about Mr. Petraeus’s last days at the CIA show the extent to which the Benghazi attacks created a climate of interagency finger-pointing. That undercut the retired four-star general’s backing within the Obama administration as he struggled with the decision to resign.

The CIA timeline published by the WSJ said the Ambassador and one other were dead when they retreated to the annex. So, what about the video of them pulling him out of a building and the story that a doctor struggled to save him but he died at the hospital?

“Pushed out? Quite a contrast to All In.”

The original draft of “All In” was called “Just the Tip”.

If I was a lefty, and given the choice to either blame the CIA, the Pentagon, or State, I’d choose the CIA. Just sayin’.

The CIA and State were infiltrated by the same commies since the 30's. Knee jerk, never gets old, tried and true leftist response is to instinctively blame the Pentagon.

No, not golden boy pant load Panetta......the actual military officers. You know the neo-con, warmongering, blood for oil, baby killing, PTSD suffering, drug addicted, lower income, white, right wing mercenaries of the military that become right wing lone wolf domestic terrorists.

Why was it "their fault?" Pfff every good "progressive" knows there isn't enough oil, gold, and resources in Libya to satisfy the military's blood lust. Which is why Dear Reader had to force them to "do the right thing" and "support democracy" in Libya." But, if they could escalate the video protest until an Ambassador was killed, they could have their next Halliburton profiting war....

Did that last paragraph sound contradictory? Then you must not be a good "progressive." All hail Dear Reader.

I think the only reason CIA is facing blame in this instance is because they can discredit a former General Officer, who might I add - discredited himself. That's just my two cents of the warped leftist mind.

Note the dates: Both after Rice went on the shows.....

Sept. 18: Obama was asked about the Benghazi attack on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

He blamed the Youtube video.

You don't know that. Get back to me when you have real hard evidence that he did.

Exactly right! It was a closed meeting and it was reported by someone other than Petreaus who was in the meeting that Petreaus blamed the video. I’ve tried finding his quote myself and it doesn’t exist!

Petraeus is fully capable of lying. He lied to his wife while having an affair. He lied to the public and Congress by saying that it was the video that caused the “rioting” in Benghazi. So my guess is it would not be a stretch to think that Petraeus is fully capable of lying in the hearing tomorrow behind closed doors. I don’t bank on his telling the truth. Never much liked him, didn’t get good vibes. Didn’t trust him. Now I know why.

It may be that the only remedy will be Petraeus’s death, but Obama has to be surgical. Two can play that game

Nonsense, it's safer to go nuclear if you have the goods. If Petraeus came out and flatly accused Barky of treason, his family would be so visible as to be a lot safer than if he plays coy.

After all, Jennifer Flowers is still alive.

I read (was it only yesterday?) and maybe you did too, that Patreaus offered to testify, after saying he was postponing to “put his life together”.

That sort of indicates to (but what do I know) that he may be bucking 0bastard’s leash.

I know there’s a FR thread but don’t know where it is. I’d have to look for 2 hours probably, there’s so much stuff. Maybe you read it anyway.

Update: Fox reports that Petraeus initiated the agreement to talk with the committees, but at least one of these will be off-site and presumably behind closed doors:

Now petraeus is completely cowed, and must act the subservient general in order to save his personal life, and perhaps the lives of his children.

Obama needs nothing so severe as to control Petraeus' actions.

He appointed Mrs. Petraeus to a $187,465 federal job with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

He who appoints can, er, unappoint.

There were rumors at the time (and re-surfaced when 0kakacare got into the SCOTUS) that he was a homosexual either in the past or still. A photo of him and some other guys at Fire Island was posted, he also did pro bono work for Lambda, a notorious homosexual advocacy group. He didn’t marry until age 40 and not sure if there were other girl friends before that.

Odd....

As I pointed out to another poster, get back to me when you have real hard evidence to support your claim.

WALKING AL QUIDA IN BENGHAZI

Theres a full time line there.

Sean Smith died and was found before the retreat to the Annex. After the retreat, the Annex became the focus of the attacks and the compound was left pretty much to itself.

Later, after midnight, Stevens was found by supposed "looters" who say he was barely alive and they tried to get him to the hospital themselves and that he either died in route, or after getting there.

Too dangerous (imho) for anyone to say much. Most everyone is wired, if not all are wired via security coverage. Being dangerous for any and everyone to say much can also work to advantage.

WSJ: Petraeus pushed out after defending CIA over Benghazi?

Well, enemy forces tried to use their knowledge of the affair to force him to support their explanation of the Benghazi thing (the video card). Eventually the video explanation was shown to be a lie and those pushing it to be liars, whereupon they had no more use for him and, since they couldn't use the affair to control him, they used it to screw him over.

First am for open hearings. Second, this time, closed door hearings for a brief and debrief, and for a period of time can be advantageous, if someone drops the hammer on those leaking. Leaks can be traced, if there is the desire. Those in the hearing will be a small select group. Tracking is easy enough.

I’m not sure I follow.

The picture of him demonstrates he’s gay?

How so?
