[Israel] Knesset authorizes immediate draft of reservists
Jerusalem Post ^ | 11/15/2012 | By LAHAV HARKOV

Bar-On: Israel does not want to harm innocent residents of Gaza.

The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee unanimously authorized on Thursday Defense Minister Ehud Barak's request to enlist reservists and declare a "special status" for towns within 40 km from Gaza.

The IDF will issue "order nine," which is an irregular order in cases of emergency for reservists to immediately report to duty. The committee did not release the number of reservists that will be called.

"The residents of the south are in the real line of fire, and only their strength will allow the IDF to meet its capabilities," Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Ronnie Bar-On (Kadima) said.

"Israel is passing on a clear message to terrorist organizations in Gaza that disrupting life in the South will not continue."

Bar-On added that IDF Intelligence, together with the Shin Bet and IAF are "crushing Hamas and strengthening Israel's deterrence."

However, the Kadima MK said, "The State of Israel has no intention or desire to harm Gaza residents that are not involved in terror" Bar-On also called on Egypt not to take "hasty unilateral steps," emphasizing the importance of the peace treaty in maintaining regional stability.

On the way into the meeting, MK Arieh Eldad called to cut off Israel-provided electricity and water to Gaza.

"Until Israel goes into Gaza and cuts off their supply lines, Israelis will continue to suffer," he said. "We should have killed [senior Hamas official Ahmed Said Khalil] Jabari the moment [formerly captive soldier] Gilad Schalit crossed the border back into Israel."

Shas MK Nissim Ze'ev said claims that Operation Pillar of Defense is connected to the upcoming election are "delusional," and Hamas did not coordinate its rocket attacks with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

"I trust the IDF to make decisions. If they need to go into Gaza, I am sure they will, but we need to strike them from the air as much as possible to keep our soldiers from harm's way," Ze'ev added.

MK Eitan Cabel (Labor) also said the IDF should not hurry into a land incursion into Gaza.

"You know how war starts, but you never know how it will end," Cabel stated. "The only real solution in the South is peace, but if it is currently impossible to make peace, there should at least be security for the residents of the South." Gil Hoffman contributed to this report.

Israel is probably expecting escalation. It is possible will become involved militarily.

Egypt has recalled its embassador from Israel.

Hamas has fired over 200 rockets from Gaza in the past 24 hours.

And the Palestinians are asking the UN for help after terror groups in the Palestinian areas fire rockets at Israel.

Someone needs to show Israel's side of how Israel has a right to defend itself.

It’s on like Donkey Kong. This is not going to end well. The next few days are going to be critical.

Good News:

Syria to the North is divided because of the Civil War in Syria.

Egypt might come to the aid of the Palestinians, but they might do dumb things militarily -- putting extremists in command of the military?

Iran is too far away to intervene without problems...

But the Arab League might get kicked into gear (Saudia Arabia and others). I fear that the most.

The Israelis have been intercepting rockets/missiles with Iron Dome and they have the Patriot systems.

Hopefully that will minimize the damage.

>Further, the senior Hamas members said the group is likely to use antiaircraft and other advanced missiles against IAF airplanes operating over the Gaza Strip.

I would suspect by now Israel knows the details of every hamas leader down to the drill sergeant level.

Hopefully they deliver a gift wrapped package to each and every one.

Israel has no choice but to destroy Hamas in Gaza and take occupation of the Gaza strip forever. Police to patrol with authority to shoot to kill any resistance. If Egypt interferes, destroy most of the Country. Iran will shi! a brick knowing the corrupt government of their country may not have the support of its population.

“Iran will shi! a brick knowing the corrupt government of their country may not have the support of its population. “

But it knows it has the support of Obama and Putin.

That would be the best justification to nuke Mecca and be done with it.

The PLO’s are such a bunch of whiners about land “their land” yatta yatta-—it’s always seemed to me that they should lose a little every time they fire a rocket. My formula would be one rocket for one square mile of arab land——shoot it and lose it. the Israelis have Caterpillar D9 El-tracks which could clear the square mile in about a day. Except for the Golan they have never been made to pay for their cheap shots. Israel should never have given back the Sinai. Gaza was a good effort by Sharon but it didn’t work. Just take it back, send the Gaza’s back to Egypt, flatten the place for a buffer zone. Arabs don’t understand anything except getting their teeth kicked to their sphincters. Looks like it might happen this time.

The Saudis are likely very quietly helping Israel to stop Persians from getting the bomb, IMHO. Hence they are not likely to dump on them over Gaza at this time.
