0bama’s “base” is a bunch of lazy thieves that voted for more handouts,

but those who aren’t on the dole are worse, and their reason for supporting him is far more selfish.

They support democrats because they have the need to feel righteous as a “good person”, but they don’t want to sacrifice anything for it, so they advocate for “programs” to “help the needy”, and voila, they have achieved their sense of self-righteousness.

No, you won’t get through to those folks. If we really wanted progress and prosperity, there would be no taxes at all on businesses or capital gains. In fact, the best option for taxes would be either a flat tax or a national sales tax with no income taxes. Yes, I live in fantasy land, why do you ask? ;-)

Interesting to see the article comes from the NY Times.
WHAT? IT ISN’T?
Oh, I see, London Daily Mail.
Well, glad someone is watching out for OUR interests and letting us know what is going on.

Sometime during the meal, casually get to the pResidency and if the waitress/waiter gushes and beams when BO gets mentioned, make sure the BO SURCHAGE TAX comes out of his/her tip.

At present I take my SR or Military discount and ADD it to the tip.

Yes, I’ve had the same experience. Several of my Obama voting friends are in the construction business. Higher taxes result in less capitol investment and fewer construction projects. Oh, well I guess they can spend their free time building houses for Habitats for Humanity.

Newz,

I don't see this necessarily as a 'war' on hourly workers, but a war on the most visible aspect of working America that takes money out of our wallets.

When I go to the store, there are relatively few 'upper middle class yuppies' bagging my groceries or selling me pants or making my McBigMac or pouring my Squishie.

I don't go into a corporate office or an office park or a faceless business to get food, or clothes, or gas, or sundries, nor even to buy electronics.

Those Bambi-bots (those with the money at least) that voted for Hope and more of our Change, are rarely an hourly public employee. We'd actually have to dig them out of their cushy salaried jobs to identify them (and I work with a number of them).

And so we take our anger and rage and disgust out on the little people (of which an ever-increasing number of us are becoming), instead of placing the blame and aim where it belongs. Not right or wrong, just the most visible means of protest against tyranny. And look for more of the same in the future.

Denny’s won’t be charging me anything.

Liberals will no doubt protest this unfair surcharge, like the fee for ATM transactions, but will fail to see the irony in their support of ever higher corporate taxes.

Here in wonderful CA, the pump has to display the taxes on the pump. The federal comes in at a paltry 18.4 cents followed by the 7.25% CA sales tax of ~ 21 cents soon to go up another 3-4 cents courtesy of Prop 30 and led by the 36 cent state excise tax. The 79 cents/gallon we will be paying in gas taxes on 1/1/13 allows to have the nicest roads in the world. High taxes are great!!!! What? There’s a pothole every ten feet on any street and the 101 is so bouncy around Ventura I’m eventually gonna get bounced into the Pacific. Uhhh..... nevermind

Interesting approach. Not sure how it will fly with Franchise Relations... His franchise agreement may allow such a surcharge.

No they didn't! They voted for more free stuff! That is in their own best interest. If they had voted against their own best interest, Romney would have won by a landslide............

I think there is room to debate whether 'getting free stuff' is ultimately in someone's best interest. Is living in poverty level with a few perks like a phone and food stamps better than choosing a path to upward mobility to get out of poverty? I think most would agree. A good question to ask is whether many people are actually better off living off the government than working. If someone can achieve a higher standard of living by doing nothing, then yes, they voted for their best interest. Unfortunately, our system has evolved into one where that is the case for too many, and only those with personal ambition to do more incentivize themselves to either get education or work their way out of the situation.

Additionally, I think too many in our nation of all economic groups now have accepted the concepts of a giant welfare state (a la European socialism) as the best situation. Our of compassion, those that agree with that type of society are actually destroying life. Not to mention the unsustainable course financially.
