Robbing a cell phone store? Somebody please help me out here. How much cash is likely to be on hand at a cell phone store? Most shoppers would be paying by credit or debit card, and the Obamaphone weasels probably pull out their EBT.

Chances are they were not after cash, but it was a nice side bonus for a few minutes work. They were after phones.

Here’s a story from a couple of days ago in Fort Worth:

On the TV news later that night (not the report on the video from the link), the reporter mentioned the store was having a release sale special on the new Samsung. She postulated the thieves (0’s children) knew there would probably be additional stock on hand for the promotion and they would be able to get a few more phones than normal. Since the phones run around $400, and they walked away with 10+ phones, it was a better haul for them to steal the phones and sell them rather than simply going in a taking money from the customers and the register.

It happens a lot. They steal the high end phones and resell them on Craigslist or eBay. People that don’t have good credit will also stop by the store to pay their bill.
