As Denny’s franchisee preps Obamacare surcharge, liberals promise another boycott

If you’re in Florida and planning to join in on the Papa John’s “buycott” scheduled for this Friday, you might want to save some room for dessert and hit Denny’s afterward. A West Palm Beach restaurant owner is the latest target of a boycott campaign after floating the idea of adding a 5 percent “Obamacare surcharge” to customer checks starting in 2014.

Franchisor John Metz told the Huffington Post that “although it may sound terrible that I’m doing this, it’s the only alternative. I’ve got to pass the cost on to the consumer.” In August, Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter was among the first to come under fire for suggesting that implementing Obamacare would entail costs that would have to be passed on to customers.

Applebee’s has also been targeted for a boycott, although the company was quick to point out via a Twitter post that comments about a possible hiring freeze were me by an independent franchisee..

Next at McDonalds, the $20 Big Mac.

Elections have consequences.

In the case of Obama’s Father, Erections have consequences.

Problem is, they don't accept the responsibility, it's all the fault of the ‘evil corporations’ or some variant. My liberal mother in law when I commented on shortened hours and layoffs a plenty responded, “I hate to tell you this, but that's how companies have acted since I was young”. My argument that avoiding losses just makes sense in the business world, all she saw as evil capitalists avoiding healthcare costs....

“It has never ceased to amaze me that the libtard apartment renters will vote to raise property taxes because they do not think it affects them.”

For some in rent-controlled apartments, the owners aren’t allowed to pass the increase on to them; others just flee when the rent becomes too high, leaving the owners stuck with a building with vacancies...

The combo meals were already climbing anyway; I pull into the drive-thru of those places and cobble together a meal for $3.21 from the dollar menu (I bring my own drink). I wont pay $7 for a Big Mac meal...and as far as taking the kids? Not going to happen.

On another site I read that Pappa John’s will “no longer in the future be advertising ‘ on the Rush Limbaugh show because of Lib complaints. Fact or fiction?

And a lot of those around here that live in govt. housing vote to raise property tax, too. I know there are probably people on this board that have no real estate, but seriously, a person ought to own property to vote.

Yes, because liberals think profits are evil. “People before Profit” goes the communist party slogan.

A combo meal at Arbys with a dessert side is close to $9.

No more for me.

The day Waffle House announces raised prices or layoffs - THAT is going to be a bad bad day.

This may not be a bad thing in the long run. Most of that fast food is crap.

Maybe people will get back to actually cooking, and eating at home gathered with their families again.

Or, cooking over an open fire, outdoors ...because the S has hit the fan, and the grid is down.

Did they really think the company could simply absorb the loss?

Well, yes, actually. Libs seem to think that corporations/businesses are bottomless pits of money, and that they go out of their way to keep wages and benefits down because of their greed, not because of any practical business decisions.

This whole thing really illustrates how ignorant liberals are. In their tiny little minds, they thought that Obamacare’s additional costs would be funded from giant piles of cash - “obscene profits” - that corporate fatcats were hording. As we know, of course, this isn’t how things work in the real world, and these businesses need to and will either pass the extra cost onto the consumer or find a way to minimize the extra cost (i.e. fire workers or convert their jobs to part time).

Now that the truth is out there, the liberals must conceal it; these boycotts are intended to discourage other companies from making public statements about the cost of Obamacare to the consumer. Let’s support these companies and counter these boycots, so that other CEOs will not be afraid to act similarly.

I was at a downtown mom and pop type pet/garden shop yesterday that employees 12 people and the owner was fit to be tied. Insurance costs have gone up 20% for 2013 and for the first time he had to pay an accountant 1,000 to file taxes with complex regulations that only a lawyer can understand. How anyone thinks small business owners are wealthy is beyond me.

I can’t see it. If they boycott it, where are the urban thugs going to fight?

These libs are going to find out they have to reap what they sow. I work in restaurants, which is home to tons and tons of liberals working while in school or working at one because they cant get a job in their field. They going to see 1st hand what voting for Obama has done for them.

Nope.... soon you'll be taxed to pay for ObamaMeals at your local fast food joint. Don't you know the masses have a "right" to drive-thru? (bonus: all those illegals will get to keep their jobs!)

“and 25 % not paying attention tax for people who voted for Obama”

So true. Government would be far more disciplined if tax hikes were restricted to those who voted for politicians who advocate them.
