Gotta love Louis Gohmert. He stuck his neck out and nominated former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to replace Boehner as Speaker of the House today. Sadly, not a single Republican seconded the motion and it died. And so did our hopes of ousting Boehner:

THE HILL – Former Speaker and failed presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was nominated for the position of Speaker on Wednesday by conservative Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas). There was no second.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was nominated for another term by sometime-rival Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.). Boehner in turn nominated Cantor.

Typical GOP, rewarding their leaders that failed.

Gee, sounds like Democrats.

No one stepped up to replace that hapless wonder. And we wonder why we’re in the shape that we’re in.

Yuck. The man who melted for Clinton (his own words). Seems like the House is sprinting leftward since the election. Gingrich and Pelosi would do terrible things to this country. They’d pass a Cap and Trade bill that would destroy all business.

Fantastic....

But sadden that Boehner is nominated by Cantor for Speaker and then turns around to nominate Cantor for Leader...

God I hate Washington.... nothing ever changes. Why doesn’t everyone just go home. - it won’t matter anyway.

He should have nominated Allen West. I bet he would have gotten a second.

Now here is an issue worthy of hundreds of thousands of petitions to the House of Representatives.

And I’m not a fan of Gingrich but I have no doubt he could get things done.

Boehner in turn nominated Cantor

The ole reach-around. In GOPe parlances, they are both "bottoms".

Sadly, not a single Republican seconded the motion and it died.

They already sold their soul to the devil. And they are/have been hell bent to not have a conservative with NO care who would be the BEST as Speaker. They are truly unteachable - they learned nothing from the election and will remain the stupid party.

Don’t feel too bad. There are plenty of people right here on FR that will claim Cantor is playing 3D chess and he really is conservative. Then bitch for the next 4 years and pull the lever for whatever the GOP runs.

Because, of course, they ‘have no other choice.’

The enemy is us.

Boner being kept as speaker is the final nail in the coffin.

Cantor sat on the Petraeus scandal until after the election. He is unfit for any position, including dogcatcher.

I heard Mark Levin say on his radio show tonight”Something nice happened today.” He gave this news and said he will be watching to see if Boehner retaliates against Gohmert.

It would have been nice if Gohmert would have already had votes lined up for Newt.

If they really had the guts then nominate Romney. He would then be second in the United States presidential line of succession. After all he did get million of votes from the public.

Rep. Louie Gohmert Rocks, indeed!

The rest of the sniveling Reps didn't have the guts to back him up.

Rep Gohmert deserves ALL of our support.

Call him and thank him.

Where was Bachmann on this??
