Newt Gingrich nominated for Speaker of the House

Gotta love Louis Gohmert. He stuck his neck out and nominated former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to replace Boehner as Speaker of the House today. Sadly, not a single Republican seconded the motion and it died. And so did our hopes of ousting Boehner:

THE HILL – Former Speaker and failed presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was nominated for the position of Speaker on Wednesday by conservative Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-Texas). There was no second.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) was nominated for another term by sometime-rival Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.). Boehner in turn nominated Cantor.

Beyond Col. West being a great Speaker of the House, imagine what it do to the Democrats. It would drive them completely out of their minds! LOL!

Tell you what, the only one right now that is even close to newt is Trey Gowdy. I love his fight and ability to articulate, just like Newt.

I’d not be as excited about driving them out of their minds as I would knowing the cold chill that would course through their veins knowing they could be held accountable for the first time in decades ... male or female, black, latino or white.

“If they really had the guts then nominate Romney”

Yeah I thought of that too, but as cool as that would be Romney is pretty much white bread too - he’s better tactically.

Newt is show and has quick mind.... if not him a younger version be dynamite.

I was talking about BOEHNER...who was reelected by the House GOP today, for some inexplicable reason.

I love Newt, met with Newt years ago when he was a nobody, talked with Newt.

It’s a non-partisan race, but I’d put her to the right of the guy she beat.

There are plenty of people right here on FR that will claim Cantor is playing 3D chess and he really is conservative. Then bitch for the next 4 years and pull the lever for whatever the GOP runs.

Because, of course, they ‘have no other choice.’

You said a mouthful there, brother.

I'm done playing the Gutless Old Pretender's stooge. Never again-- not another wasted vote on those lazy cowards.

Gingrich was the GOP establishment. After a year, he told the rest of the house leadership they wouldn't be pursuing a conservative agenda anymore and they better fall in line.

Gingrich spent the 2000s romancing Nancy Pelosi and trying to get people like Dede Scozzafava elected over conservatives. This guy actually believes we should destroy the economy for Global Warming.

The lady was probably exactly where a lot of us thought, NOT on the right side .

Its a pleasure to be able to vote for Louie Gohmert!

Agree 100%!

Newt just needed to have the “Missus” miss a few of his campaign appearances. She’s probably a very nice person and is apparently a good conservative, but.......

Newt is a remarkable politician with talents beyond what most will never understand. He has done more for the conservatives than anyone, and should be the president -elect.

I agree - he towers above them all. But that is over the heads for the clueless/easily deceived to see.

Gingrich succeeded enormously. Clinton, of course, after opposing him to the death, took the credit for what Gingrich did. But the GOP establishment was embarrassed by Gingrich, and when the Dems and the press started trumping up wierd charges because they were infuriated with his success, the usual go along to get along GOP establishment came out and got rid of Newt.

Exactly! But the unteachable STILL don't get it!
