Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus is echoing Rep. Allen West's (R-Fla.) call for a full recount of early ballots in his race, offering a rare show of support for a Republican lawmaker still locked in a yet-undecided race.
"The voters of Florida's 18th Congressional District deserve to have their ballots counted properly. Congressman Allen West has asked election officials in St. Lucie County to count all early voting ballots, and I strongly urge them to do so in order to erase any existing concerns about irregularities in the tabulation process," said Priebus in a statement.
St. Lucie County officials recounted only three days of early ballots, which they say were initially affected by a machine malfunction.
That recount caused a shift in the number of votes counted in the final tally, a result that prompted West's campaign to file a complaint in a county circuit court requesting an injunction to force St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker to recount all eight days of early ballots.
Florida secretary of state, Ken Detzner, announced Tuesday that he would send three auditors to St. Lucie County to investigate voter tabulation and machines that led to skewed results.
West remains .58 percentage points behind Murphy in the most recent tally of votes, just short of the .5 percentage point threshold required to trigger an automatic recount.
Murphy declared victory this past weekend, and is currently attending orientation activities with new members of Congress. West is also on the Hill for the lame-duck session of Congress.
But result of the race will not be officially certified until Friday.
Priebus' engagement in the race reflects the national attention it has been given. It's one of five House races nationwide that have not yet been called, but Priebus has not yet weighed in on the other four.
But the RNC chairman said in his statement that the recount is "not about any one candidate," but rather about "preserving and proecting the integrity of our democratic system."

Although harboring no illusions regarding my mystical powers, I wrote to Chmn Priebus on 7 November to let him know that I would not give financial support to any candidate for presidential or congressional office, or the RNC, unless the massive fraudulent voting was exposed, condemned, and steps taken to reduce it to a rarity.
I urge that others do likewise.

They did that today. And though they could have recounted both races in the process, they set the machines to only count the mayoral race votes.
I’ll be happy to concede those mystical powers to you actually - and I think I’ll join you with a similar note. That was great thinking. Because frankly, any dime given to any political party or candidate if fraud is going to determine the outcome anyway - is a dime wasted.

Conservatives were too disorganized to hold meetings in precincts before the primary in order to form a consensus around a conservative candidate.
The primary resembled a circular firing squad as one conservative candidate after another was shot down by hypocritical purists and DU troll infiltrators.

Good. IIRC, just like in 2000, it is AGAINST Florida statute to have a partial recount. This was exactly what SCOTUS slapped SCOFLA down for. If Gore had called for a full recount of the entire state, he could have gone forward with it.

A recount in the mayoral race was going to be done anyway. They didn't have to call for diddly squat. They are out to take credit for something that was going to happen anyway. We can fully expect the Rev to take credit for the sunrise tomorrow as well.
They are there to try to keep West from getting a recount.

The Fl Statute requriement is .05% for a mandatory recount. If they can get West just a few more votes then it will become mandatory via Statute.
They finished the precincts 1 to 40 in Ft. Pierce Proper but are recounting precincts 41 74 to 94 now although they aren’t Ft. Pierce city precincts. This is because the early voters could drop off ballots anywhere in the county. So they are having to run these precincts to see if there were any Mayoral votes dropped off in them.

Canvassing board member and Chief Deputy Court Administrator Marc Traum says two precincts had discrepancies, compared to the initial count. Traum said one precinct had a five-vote discrepancy. He didn’t know the other.
