Note to Chris Matthews: when seeking to slam Republicans for their supposed ignorance of science, try not to expose your own. On Tuesday's Hardball, Matthews—mocking the Republican congressmen vying for the chairmanship of the House Science Committee— committed this whopper: "As we all learned in grammar school—young people watching—trees absorb carbon monoxide."
Uh, no, Chris. As even an MSNBC host might know, carbon monoxide is a toxic gas produced when there is insufficient oxygen to permit complete oxidation. Think running car in closed garage. Trees absorb carbon dioxide. Perhaps it was just a slip of the overworked Matthews' tongue, but when it comes to a guy who likes to jump down any available Republican throat, turnabout is fair play.

Alcoholism,diabetes, which more and more reports link to Alzheimer's is a good bet.
Diabetes alone especially in a alcoholic will cause erratic behavior, Alzheimer's makes it much worse. He is 67 next month and may have had it for years.

Carbon monoxide does eventually convert to carbon dioxide. There are microorganisms in the soil and water that speed the process along. You might notice that grass and plant growth along the sides of highways resembles riparian communities.
None of this, of course, is meant to suggest Chrissy has sense enough not to suck on an exhaust pipe.
On the planet where Chris Matthews was educated, the plants do absorb CO. And animals exhale it. For some reason, their respiratory systems do not fully oxidize carbon.
This may explain why every idea that Chris expresses is half-baked.
So, where is the picture of the handgun for liberals? You know. The one with the barrel that points at the person holding the gun! I think Chrissy inhaled way too much carbon monoxide on his many trips to the forest.
When I first skimmed the title of the article, I thought it said "Chris Matthews Claims GOP Ignorant of Science While Claiming Pants Absorb Carbon Monoxide."
I can’t believe that Chrissy could suffer from a slip of the tongue like that, his tongue is usually so firmly clenched between Obama’s butt cheeks.
