“This is what the Rino’s have wanted all along and the loss they feel has given them the cover they need.”

Remember when the Dems took over congress, GWB commented that he could get things done, and he came close to pushing through amnesty.

Good luck with whatever immigrant-hating loser third party you join.

There are reasons why we have a constitution, borders, immigration laws, criminal laws, etc. It’s something to do with securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, OUR children. I feel for all the people of the world who live in poverty under socialist or totalitarian rule or under complete lawlessness, but I have no compelling urge to join them or to leave our children to live in a socialist third world state.

Oh, please, as if those smugglers are representative of most undocumented immigrants. Most immigrants are hard-working and family-orientated people with many children. Children who have never known a home besides America.

Ted Kennedy in 1965:

“The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.”

Ted Kennedy in 1986:

“We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.”

They always say that this will be the last amnesty.

Boehner on Nov 8 2012, when asked about "immigration": This issue has been around far too long and while I believe it’s important for us to secure our borders and to enforce our laws, I think a comprehensive approach is long overdue, and I’m confident that the President, myself, others, can find the common ground to take care of this issue once and for all.

That will finish off America.

20+ million Democrats added to the voter rolls.

I didn’t buy it the first time. I’m not buying it now.

Clamp the border down tighter than a clam’s ass.

Provide instant eligibility check for businesses.

Start prosecuting owners of businesses, and confiscate their property that was funded in part on the backs of illegal immigrants.

Cut off all funds for illegal immigrants and their children.

Enforce current laws.

Assist immigrants needing to return to their nation of origin.

Make it known, that not one single person here illegally was able to stay.

Pass federal legislation that makes it illegal to provide any state perks to illegal immigrants and their children.

Withhold any federal dollars to entities that declare themselves an amnesty zone, or refuse to observe federal laws for illegal immigration.

Then Republicans better get busy converting Hispanics to the party because a path to citizenship is a sure thing now.

As an FL voter I was horrified to see the state go for Barry again...and even more shocked to learn that young Cubans went for Barry and also that something like 200,000 Puerto Ricans suddenly materialized in the I-4 corridor between 2008 and 2012 who swung the state to Barry.

Ironically, the Puerto Rican US citizens (who can't vote in the island) may well have replaced illegal Mexicans and Central Americans in the hospitality services in Orlando.

In any case, Rubio, who was always soft on illegal coddling, and the FL GOP are now facing a different statewide electorate that demands “a path to...” something for their relatives, friends, lovers, race or whatever from all statewide candidates or face defeat.

Because the GOP-e number one agenda is to win, pragmatism will demand going soft on illegals, prior principles be damned. Like countless previous American principles that have been abandoned by both parties, support for current immigration law and enforcement of the law to protect citizens will be removed from the platform. Sad but true I am afraid. Most likely a bipartisan "comprehensive immigration" bill will pass ASAP taking the issue effectively off the table.

Barry is going to hate losing this wedge issue, though, and social issues can be used to woo Hispanics to some extent, but "free stuff" seems to be what motivates them.

Boehner is a useful idiot just like Kennedy, Obama, Graham, McCain, et al. Useful idiots are nothing but scum and will be treated as such by their masters as soon as they become no longer useful. Has happened that way all down through totalitarian history. History repeats itself.

Remain vigilent!

All of this, (or most) was supposed to happen under Reagan. It failed because the RINOS (Chamber of Commerce) wanted cheap labor, and still do. The Democrats wanted Democrat voters.
Now Boehner, Graham, Hatch, Rubio, et al, are seeking amnesty. Who is left to fight for us?

>> So much for Rubio. <<

It was a red flag for me when Jeb Bush & all the Florida freepers who talked up Mel Martinez as a "rock solid, wonderful pro-life Cuban conservative who is ANTI-amnesty and WILL NOT WAIVER" in 2004, said the same thing about Marco Rubio in 2010. In both cases, the mere fact the candidate SAID he was anti-amnesty was enough that we should immediately "get behind" his candidacy the moment he announces it, vetting his record is of no importance because freepers who "know him personally" can vouch for what a great guy he is.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

If illegals have to go through background checks in both the US and their home countries, show continuous residence and steady employment in the US, and are prevented from voting for 10 years, I would be in favor of it.

1) They always say they are going to do background checks, and you would believe that? Do you know what a corrupt government Mexico, for example, has? Ever heard of "Mordida?" Ask Mexicans if they trust their own government.

2)"Continuous residence and steady employment...." I have serious doubts they will even try hard to prevent fraud.

3)"Prevented from voting 10 years..." So after 10 years leftists take control of all 3 branches of government forever. Sounds like a great plan.

Well, not McCain, Boehner, Graham, Hatch, or Rubio, that’s for sure.

That’s why I wretch when someone mentions Rubio as a presidential or vice-presidential nominee.

He’d be as happy to sell us out as anyone on the left, regarding amnesty.

No thanks.

Our only chance to gain the Hispanic vote is to come out for common sense immigration reform now and pray to God that it is enough.

What the hell, Boehner, McCain, etc. get favorable coverage in the NY Times, and all you give up is the future of democracy in this nation. Let's support GOP "leaders" who want to compete with Obama buying votes. Long term sacrifice of the nation for possible short tame gain.

Sadly, you'll have to add Hatch and Rubio to that list.

These folks don't understand the down side of amnesty. They're totally clueless.

Hispanics are voting in excess of 70% for the Democrats, due in no small part to the fact that most of them live in California, and the Republican party hasn't sought votes there in twenty years.

Now they want to legalize more people they won't seek votes from. It's political suicide.

I'm not buying in.

And when I say they won't seek votes from, I'm not referring to giving them goodies. I'm merely addressing the fact that we don't make an appeal to them based on family values, and issues that are comment to them and us.

We ignore the Hispanics, when it comes to just pushing sound policy. That's insulting to the folks who consider themselves as good Americans as anyone else. And frankly, I agree with them on that count.

” We ignore the Hispanics, when it comes to just pushing sound policy. “

We (I presume you mean the Republican Party) do much worse than that. We shun & broom the Tea Party. IMHO, we need to attack the Republican Party, and have a Tea Party takeover of it, if we are to survive as a nation.

She isnt going to be too popular here with ideas like that.

It shows how pathetic Rs are that their only approach to hispanics is being Obama’s bitch on illegal immigration.
Somehow I dont see that as helping them much with anyone.

I proposed a 'common-sense' idea here a while back: that we grant temporary 1 year visas to those here illegally who apply and they are valid till April 15th at which time they must submit a tax return showing they paid the top marginal tax rate, whatever it is that Obama gets passed.
And they must be IDed finger prints and photos and cell sampled to get it so its easy to find them later and boot them out.

Oh, and give us a new tax deduction for being here legally in the first place.

That would hurt.
