PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker said she won't back down if state officials get involved in the still-undeclared race between Allen West and Patrick Murphy, but she might have other visitors now.
A release issued by the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network late Tuesday afternoon indicated that representatives from his local office will speak at a press conference Wednesday "to call for a mechanical and hand re-count of the ballots in ... the West/Murphy race."
The NAN release said it will look into what it calls "charges of voter suppression and intimidation."
Protesters numbered several dozen outside Walker's office on Tuesday. She said at a late-afternoon news conference that she won't budge.
"I welcome them here," she said. "I didn't request them to come. The state can come; I welcome them. " ......

Al needs to have about 25,000 people just accidentally show up in front of his offices and home for about a week.
Let him walk the gauntlet for a change..., you know, like voters have to at some precincts.
This election official seems to be willing to have a recount. Sounds reasonable so far, unless there were reports I didn’t see.
Most of them WORK FOR A LIVING.
What exactly is that supposed to mean?
In the video she says she will allow the state officials..., what does she mean allow? She's not the top election official in the state. They'll review if they want, and her opinion is nothing more than that.
Allen West was just on Mark Levin and gave this info:
If youd like to contribute to the Allen West recount fund, checks must be made to Allen West for Congress - Recount Fund and sent to:
Allen West for Congress - Recount Fund
PO Box 1108
Stuart, FL 34995
That’s exactly what those people in the video are, West supporters.
Thanks, didn’t look at the link/video.
Now another candidate on the ballot is going after Gertrude...
As I read this, it seems Rev. Sharpton is seeking both a mechanical recount and a hand recount of all the ballots. Wouldn’t that be just what Col. West wants? Given a choice between support of a black candidate and political loyalty, surely Rev. Sharpton, of all people, would not put race above politics??
No problem. Can’t watch every video. Take care...
That’s the way I read it too. But I don’t trust Sharpton.
Look at the video at the link.
A poorly written article. It says a couple of times that Wallker "won't back down", but it never says just what it is she won't back down from.
Is she refusing to recount more votes, or what?
She wants to cherry pick what is recounted. Things are so confused now that only a fresh start is acceptable.
I was trying to decide myself which side Sharptongue was on.
My question is just whose side is democrat Sharpton on? Frankly I wish he’d bow out altogether.
I agree with you. The article makes statements and attributes them to her, but doesn’t quote her saying it.
This is a quote by her that comes close to ‘won’t back down’:
“I am confident that every vote has been counted accurately, that the certified results that the board signed off on Sunday are accurate, and I can stand on that,” Walker said.
Okay great. Thanks for mentioning that. Some of these issues get buried for me, and a post like yours can help.
Well, it’s settled. Since she committed voter fraud which is a felony, throw the book at her. Let her sit on her fanny in jail for 20 years.
Um. Wrong thread?
Good call. Sorry to post that there.
No one knows which side Al will be on and he may not know either.
The people outside the election office protesting the supervisor’s actions are West supporters.
Al, Whichever side you’re on, “STFU”
You don’t think he’d be on West’s side do you?
Geez, hadn’t given that any consideration.
