Very few of the policy changes that CBO has examined in the past are large enough, by themselves, to achieve a sizable portion of the deficit reduction necessary to put the budget on a more sustainable path. In addition, many options that would have a substantial budgetary impact would require large numbers of people to pay more in taxes or receive less in government benefits or services; others would shift significant costs to state and local governments.
It is possible to keep tax revenues at their historical average share of GDP—but only by making substantial cuts, relative to current policies, in the large benefit programs that aid a broad group of people at some point in their lives. Alternatively, it is possible to keep the policies for those large benefit programs unchanged—but only by raising taxes substantially, relative to current policies, for a broad segment of the population.
Does anyone know of an analysis of the recent vote by Congressional district, showing Electoral votes as if they were awarded as they do in Maine and Nebraska? If there is to be EV reform then that's they way to do it, preserving the Republic.

We just had a bloodless coup in this country. There is enough evidence, anecdotal and otherwise, to question the validity of last Tuesday’s election results. In effect, a dictator was installed in the US due to election fraud. A dubious day in history was made last week. If Rush doesn’t talk about this, not as an aside but head-on, and give it the attention it deserves, then he needs to just hang up that golden EIB mic for good because he will have become officially useless.
I have been sensing that there was “massive” voter fraud in last Tuesday’s Presidential elections. Got to remember that 3 hours does go by fast. I also sense this General Petraous incident is a distraction.
My BIG FEAR for this country is that we could down the road very well end up in a second American civil war, much worse than the first because we are so badly are divided as a nation.
The real kicker is the fraud was probably paid for via stimulus dollars. You don’t put together the kind of machine Obie had overnight and it ain’t cheap...
We funded Obie’s re-election in many, many ways.
Am I evil for taking some satisfaction in this cluster of scandals falling so soon after the election?
