One piece of information that got lost the last few days of sex scandals is the news that David Petraeus personally traveled to Libya after the Benghazi attack — and apparently filed a “trip report” covering his own findings. Senator Dianne Feinstein, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee probing the Benghazi terrorist attack, wants either the report or Petraeus to testify to its contents. So far, though, the CIA and the White House have refused to provide it — and yesterday, Feinstein threatened that subpoenas may be forthcoming if the stonewalling continues...
...This lack of openness, coming on the heels of the revelations of Petraeus’ affair and his resignation, will only raise more questions about why Petraeus is no longer testifying, and why he was so quick to get out of the way. When a Democratic Senator has to go on MSNBC to threaten a Democratic administration with a subpoena, well …. it should raise a few eyebrows.
...“The premise is not necessarily an investigation,” Feinstein said, speaking of an investigation into Petraeus. “The premise is to see exactly what happened. I believe that Director Petraeus made a trip to the region, shortly before this became public. I believe that there is a trip report. We have asked to see the trip report. One person tells me he has read it, and then we tried to get it and they tell me it hasn’t been done. That’s unacceptable. We are entitled to this trip report, and if we have to go to the floor of the Senate on a subpoena, we will do just that.”
Host Andrea Mitchell asked Feinstein for clarification, and Feinstein explained that trip would include “relevant information

Exactly! We've seen this scenario played before. A genuinely concerned congress-critter initially vowing to "get to the bottom and get the facts out", and maybe at that point they really mean it. Feinstein, however, is in the perfect position as committee chairman, to steer the investigation off course, suppress information and generally conduct a whitewash. Someone from Hussein's inner circle no doubt has already called her.

Too late. They already contradicted the intial reports weeks ago and FOX followed up with a report last week...

I am wondering that too, if she will get a visit.. remember she was all up in arms about the security leaks that she thought were coming from the white house.. and all of a sudden she dropped that concern
This tidbit or large mouthful re Petraeus’s trip to Libya, was not covered by the mediots and barely surfaced here.
He may have been ready to drop the boom on the Chicago Thugs with what really happened before, during and after our people were killed!
Then the Chicago Thugs dropped the affair bomb on him.

Yesterday, Dianne Feinstein threatened to subpoena the CIA over a trip report from David Petraeus that he allegedly wrote after a personal trip to Benghazi after the terrorist attack that killed four Americans. Today, ABC News reports that Petraeus’ visit to Libya was no mere observational tour. The then-Director of Central Intelligence conducted his own interviews with personnel on the ground in Libya in preparation for testimony that has now been cancelled:
In late October, Petraeus traveled to Libya to conduct his own review of the Benghazi attack that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
While in Tripoli, he personally questioned the CIA station chief and other CIA personnel who were in Benghazi on Sept. 11 when the attack occurred.
The Libya stop was part of a six nation trip to the region. Petraeus intended the review as a way to prepare for his upcoming testimony before Congress on Benghazi.
“He was looking forward to testifying,” a Petraeus friend told ABC News. “He wanted to be fully prepared.”
This makes the decision to withdraw Petraeus from the hearing even more curious. According to their source, Petraeus thinks that acting DCI Michael Morrell can testify to Petraeus’ findings and add more of his own, plus Petraeus wants to avoid a “media circus” after the revelation of his affair.
However, while that may be understandable, those reasons aren’t enough to deprive the committees of his personal perspectives. Petraeus has years of hands-on experience dealing with terrorist networks as a military commander. Morell has over 30 years’ experience in the CIA and can obviously give a good accounting of the intelligence, but doesn’t have Petraeus’ insight. Plus, after having personally conducted the reviews in Libya, Congress needs Petraeus to expand past whatever made it into his trip report — the very document that the CIA is now reluctant to share with Feinstein and other Congressional investigators.
“I was just about to post the question about if anyone had read that Petraeus had gone to Benghazi only a few days before the election?”
It is amazing how long and deep under the ice this elephant was hidden from all of us.
Even the spooky FReepers did not know of this.
Feinstein will turn out to be the political equivalent of false advertising.
She’ll holler, shout, make a show of being tough, play act before the adoring journalists on TV, and then ultimately when push comes to shove, show that she is nothing but a loyal democrat who won;t do anything about a serious cover up.
