'It's No Longer Tenable to be Jew' in Academics, Says Professor

A math teacher at the University and College Union (UCU) -- the largest trade union and professional association of higher education for professors, academics, lecturers and researchers in the United Kingdom -- says the institution has repeatedly singled out Israel for condemnation at its annual conferences and created an intolerant environment in which "it is no longer tenable to be a Jew in UCU", The Telegraph reported.

Ronnie Fraser, who is suing the union for race and religious discrimination, had opposed a controversial motion passed by the union in 2007 calling for a ban on all Israeli academics working in the UK. The motion was put forward as part of the union's campaign against the so-called “Israeli occupation of Palestine”.

He, along with any others seeking to oppose the ban, were consistently subjected to abuse, a "freezing out" by fellow trade union members and dismissed as "Zionists", he told the tribunal hearing his case, which has not yet been settled.

"I felt this was not in keeping with the union's stance on equality. This was one of the many occasions where I felt my freedom of speech was stifled," he said in a statement.

Jane Ashworth, another academic at the institution, told the tribunal she was accused of being a member of the Israeli Mossad when she distributed leaflets opposing the boycottat the UCU national conference.

One of my friends in the Kiryat Arba area was a philosophy doctoral candidate in France, and had lectured at Cambridge in the UK. His dissertation was rejected, however, because it had some honest discussion of Islam and Jihad. After being rejected by a kibbutz for refusing to spout communist orthodoxies mindlessly enough, he moved here, where he lives in deep poverty, supporting himself at odd jobs such as telemarketing. But I never see him without a smile on his face. Freedom does that to a body. It is also not viable in academia.

Your friend is what is known, and hated by the ex-Jew left in Israel and the US, as a Torah True Jew. They are among the noblest of men and any bible believing Christian will instantly recognize them as a brother in faith.

Pretty soon it will be untenable to be a Christian in Academia too.

It is interesting how UK has gone so far downhill (with no end in sight), while shunning its Christian and western tradition... and ramping up anti-Semitism. Seems all these things often tend to go together...

But it appears too late for UK?

So there is no hope for Jews in the Western world and without. Antisemitism is despicable, particularly in the free world. Is is too much to ask in a `tolerant` world for tolerence?

calling for a ban on all Israeli academics working in the UK.

In a country where Sharia law is taking the ascendency?
Who woulda guessed?

I’m shocked, just shocked.

Once again, Jews get to play the role of the World’s scapegoats. It makes me a little disgusted with the human race.

“American Jews are Democrats. Democrats eat their own- so F em.”

I am an “American Jew”, and a conservative, ie, not a “lib”. There is also a radio host named Mark Levin, guess what he is — an “American Jew” and conservative. Oh and another radio host Michael Savage, guess what he is — an American Jew and a conservative. There is also a little website — Breitbart.com, whose heads, Ben Shapiro and Joel Pollack are —guess what — both “American Jews” and conservatives.

Get an education and don’t be such an ignoramus.

I hope your friend finds a position to use his skills. He is Europe’s loss and our gain. God Bless.

Anti-semitism is confined to a minority in the UK, always has been, despite what people here may think and say.

Also the Prof makes the mistake of equating dislike of Israeli policy/sympathy for Palestine with outright antisemitism. I dont always agree with the former’s policies, I would be appalled if any dare suggest I am an anti-semite because of that. And overall, I strongly support Israel.

Sigh.
Here we go again.

Sharia Law exists in just five English cities as a civil law, legally subordinate to English law. It dosent exist in Scotland, Wales and NI nor outside the five cities, where it has been trialled as a civil law. It was introduced by Labour and the current Govt will not extend it, not in fact would Labour if they won the next GE.

I dont like it, but equally I am sick of reading how it supposedly runs the UK.

As to British anti-semitism, read my recent post on this thread.
