IRVING, Texas Hostess Brands Inc. is permanently closing three bakeries following a nationwide strike by its bakers union. The Texas-based maker of Twinkies and Ding Dongs says the strike has prevented it from producing and delivering products. Hostess warned earlier this month that the strike, by about 30 percent of its workforce, could lead to bakery closures. It said Monday that it will close bakeries in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati that collectively employ 627 workers. The company has about 18,300 employees. The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Good. Damn the unions anyway. Good luck finding another job, maggots.
But these are bunch of real loafers.
What a Bunch of Twinkies(tm) - Wonder(tm) what these Ding Dongs(tm) were thinking.....
Reality certainly is hitting the residents of Obamanation quickly. Who would have ever thought one might lose one’s job while engaging in a strike during a horrible economy? That NEVER happens in the land of liberal unicorns!
Going straight out to buy a Hostess fruit pie to celebrate some more union libtards losing their jobs on my way home.
Bet they’ll never see that kind of dough again.
Good for Hostess!
Telling the unions to take their 'blackmail' and shove it. Good for them.
If you're jonesing for your fix give me a call!
Several Hostess plants here in Indiana are on strike.
There are some great Twinkie recipes online.
Tough twinkies, turkeys.
women, children, minority EBT card holders hit haardest !
Union maggots will never find another job.
Starve the beast.
This same thing happened in Sugar Land Texas ten years ago, with Imperial Sugar world headquarters, and factory.. THe Union demanded a 17% increase and the Comp offered 9%, and told them if that wasn’t enough, that they would close.. Unionites told them to TRY..
They closed the whole damned thing down.. POOF! I live about 5 miles from there I could hear the sobs and whining from there for months, saying that this couldn’t happen.. but it did.. They’re still crying.. DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS!!! LOLOLOL
One more time ....boo frickin’hoo! Sorry I lost all sympathy for the enemy the night Obama won re-election....well no it was well before that.
I hope the union gets battered right out of existence. I’d say it kneads to happen.
Hmm.. hard to imagine which side the pResident and bridezilla are going to fall here.
BO should side with the Union (but who cares, he ain’t runnin’ again), but bridezilla should fall on the ‘less junk food’ argument.
Still amazing how someone with a beam as broad as that can try to lecture on diet....UNLESS, of course she fesses up she been piggin’ out for years....
So guess time to pull up an easy chair and start munchin’ popcorn....
Hostess filed Chapter 11 and the leaches still want to bleed them dry. This is what the leaches have done and will continue to do to our country. They do no care.
CEO explains it here:
The Ding Dongs got a cupcake of a deal and more dough in their pension plan that the Twinkies didn’t but this Twinkie strike could snowball into a lot of the other 36 plants closing or even the company shutting down. I doubt that the Ding Dongs will let it happen.
Presidential Summit .... Ding Dongs and Twinkie’s aplenty !
Several years ago a Kaiser ? Alcoa? aluminum plant closed in Spokane, WA. A reporter interview a union worker, about 40ish father etc. The man was crying, literally, and saying that they, the brotherhood had put so much into that plant, he could not believe that it was actually closing. He told how he and the other had fought management and had be on strike three times. . . I quit listening to his sorry ass lament and I wished his children well.
This is a GOOD thing!
The more strikes the better.
These folks most likely voted for President Obama and are simply expressing their fervent desire for better working conditions and higher pay. Isn't this what President Obama says America needs? Aren't those evil white guys who operate factories that actually produce something here in America oppressing all those working class people? Keeping their pay low, not giving them a "living wage", not giving them decent "health care"? Yes, closing those factories is a GOOD thing! That will teach those evil white male oppressors that they can't get away with employing people. Besides all that stuff they bake makes people fat anyway.
ALL HAIL OBAMA!
I hope their union is happy. But they will just blame big bad business, as usual. For all the talk of ‘compromise’, they are the LAST ones to do their ‘fair share’. And this is what it gets them. Choke on it.
I always thought that their slogan should've been, "Come on you sonsabitches, do you want to live forever?"
Marines will get this. :-)
Hostess Shrugged. Twinkies no more.
Striking themselves out of a job. Brilliant! Nothing, I mean, nothing, says ‘stupid’ like ‘Obama Voter’.
think nayone paid attention that the plants closing are in union states?
none of the plants in right to work states were closed
I remember that! We had a contractor over at Imperial Sugar, and when they closed the doors the wailing and nashing of teeth was tremendous.
(Our contractor was IT, not union.) :-)
Everybody who has a job should keep that job in this environment.
They were the most obnoxious gang I have ever seen.. They not only had a picket line, they were stopping traffic with petitions that they shoved in your car window demanding you to sign it or they wouldn’t let you pass.. WELLLLLLL, it wasn’t pretty, most of the drivers threw it back at them, but that didn’t dissuade them..
They were back out there the next day.. When the announcement was made, the police had to come out and stop them from breaking all of the windows, and burning the huge tower down.. it was a sight to behold.. LOL
How’d that whole strike thing work for you, maggots?!?
Little Debbie, Little Debbie, you make me want to walk.....like a camel!
Let them eat cake!
Isn’t Hostess already in bankruptcy?
They don’t need another job. You’re paying them to loaf now.
Ho-Ho Ho-Ho Ho-Ho Ho-Ho
There was an airline where the flight attendants were negotiating their first contract. The company came to them with an incredible first offer that included a huge pay raise, better work conditions, all sorts of positives but the union said, “Nooooooo...we NEVER take the first offer.”
So several years later, the flight attendants signed the original offer. If I worked there, I would find some way to sue the union to recoup those lost years.
think nayone paid attention that the plants closing are in union states? None of the plants in right to work states were closed.”
When the unions finally give you a good LEGAL reason to say “bye bye” - you don’t want to waste it.
I guess the Twinkies and Bud breakfast is going to end.
Just when you think things couldn't get any more bizarre or sordid, David Petraeus is reported to have naked pictures of Little Debbie on his hard drive.
Mrs. Petraeus said to be "livid."
As for the junk food cake bakery from PA that my local Publix had a “buy one get one free” sale on today, no I didn't buy your product.
And I won't.
People, read the labels on the products you buy!
Sorry Hostess Brands.
Best of wishes for coming out of Chapter 11.
But if you can't work with the lunatic unions and have to shut down completely, just do it quickly, before your suppliers suffer even more.
The seedlings that will rise up from your ashes will know not to grow to big to maintain quality, and won't build factories in hostile states.
