Petraeus told biographer to stop harassing family friend, officials say
WaPo ^ | November 12, 2012 | Sari Horwitz and Scott Wilson

Former CIA director David H. Petraeus told the woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair to stop sending threatening e-mails to a family friend, Jill Kelley, after a federal investigation determined who was behind the harassment.

The move by Petraeus came in mid-summer after Kelley contacted a friend who worked as an FBI agent in Tampa, where she lived, beginning a process that would eventually force the former four-star former general to resign last week.

The new information, provided by two law enforcement officials, helps fill in a summer timeline when Petraeus’s e-mail account became the subject of a federal investigation into whether national security had been compromised during his affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.

(snip)

At some point, Kelley told Petraeus about the e-mails and named Broadwell as the person who had sent them. That may have prompted the CIA director to send his own e-mails to Broadwell, telling her to stop the harassment, the law enforcement officials said.

People close to Petraeus say his affair with Broadwell ended four months ago, around the time he e-mailed her about the harassment.

I wonder when all this BS over the Petraeus affair will stop and the real story of Benghazi will come out? The MSM has their marching orders so get ready for this to continue.

The affair is what Petraeus used to justify his resignation. His resignation ensures he will never have to speak about what he KNOWS about Benghazi. He is legally enjoined from saying ANYTHING about his days as DCI now that he has resigned.

The truth will come out that arms and supplies were coming from Libya through Turkey into Syria to supply Obama's boys. I want the whole mess to come out and I want to see Obama FRY for it.

Well, I hope he had fun while it was lasted. I wonder if he thinks she was worth destroying his career and reputation over?

Patreus wouldn’t play ball. This is his punishment.

This is by design. MSM will be consumed by this scandal which was timed to create a diversion from Libya.

IF anyone believes that Dear Reader and his puppet masters (such as Jarrett and Axelrod who are the real power behind the throne of this wholly corrupt Regime along with Sorros) did not know about this scandal before the elections and did not pressure the Feebs (specifically, another political HACK, Mueller) to hold off releasing any info before the elections, I've got some nice waterfront property available cheap in lower LA...that's not Los Angeles, but in lower Louisiana as in the bayou.

There is a story on Drudge whereby the Feebs even admit the investigation was complete 4 days before the election.

This stinks to high heaven and if the House does not move to subpoena Patreus and Mueller then I will be highly pissed, but not surprised, considering who we have as Weeper of the House.

Now that General P now longer serves his country in any capacity, his private life is of no further interest to me.

I do, however, want to hear his sworn testimony on Benghazi.

I also want his wife to lose 50 pounds, buy some appropriate and flattering clothes, get a good hairdresser and have a couple of lessons in applying a touch of make-up. Then I want her to take half of the marital assets, and kiss his adulterous a** goodbye.

No, not at all. He just can't testify as DCI. There is nothing to prevent Congress from subpoenaing him as a private citizen, and if he refuses to testify, he'll be in contempt. At best, he could plead the fifth. Which wouldn't look very good for the administration...

I think these “law enforcement” sources must be political appointees or senior DOJ career employees at Justice. I find it hard to believe that the agents who actually conducted this investigation would divulge so many details to a reporter.

I am one skeptic who is wondering whether Paula was a Democrat plant. She went after Patraeus, not the other way around. He is NOT hot, good-looking, or even sexy. What would make her want to be his lover, besides his power and status? And don’t forget, it was Paula’s husband who wrote the letter to the NYT alerting them to this story. Weird all the way around.

At least Broadwell had the good sense not to put on a diaper, then drive cross country to do harm to Mrs. Kelly.

What, it’s been three hours already? Another Petraeus story from the MSM, who’ll do anything to avoid reporting on Obama’s Benghazi Gate.

This is getting ridiculous and actually FOS.

Petraeus is going to have a huge law suit if he wasn't informed of this investigation straight away, because he has Constitutional rights, and Muelller and Holder had to inform the Marxist, so all of them were also derelict in duties when they did not inform the various Committee heads.

Huge cover-up by all involved and it's all about Benghazi.

IMPEACHMENT.

Pray that Holly Petraeus tells her husband to man up and reminds him all about "honor, duty, country." She's been military all her life.

Isn’t odd that the background of Ms. Kelley, sis, et al, are given a total pass?

I’d be quite shocked if there were not some details in the county records.

The Washington Post is set to publish a piece by editor Vernon Loeb about Paula Broadwell, his co-author on the Gen. David Petraeus biography and the woman at the center of the scandal surrounding Petraeus’s resignation from the CIA, Post sources tell POLITICO.

I think the democrats could have recruited a much more attractive “plant” — at least the Russians know what American men want...

HUH?

That is complete Bovine Excrement.

While all CIA Agents and employees sign a non-disclosure agreements, that ONLY applies to "Classified" information they were made privy to while working to the Agency.

Moreover, Congress has oversight responsibility (you know like purse strings, confirmation of appointments, etc. among other?) over the CIA and anyone thinks that merely by resigning, P can escape having to testify--especially in closed hearings--they are smoking something other than tobacco.
