Republicans in Congress should let Obama have his way

The only hope for an America that would reward such epic failure by re-electing Obama and a Democratic Senate, is to accelerate their re-education in the consequences of liberal Democrat economic policies.

Speaker John Boehner should announce that he has heard the voice of the people and will honor that voice by letting the President’s agenda be fully enacted so that there will be no doubt who owns the economy. We can’t obstruct enough to make a difference in the natural outcome of events, so why strain at gnats?

Let us make clear that we are doing this out of respect for the vote to re-hire Obama and to let the people have what they voted for. It took many decades to produce such an electorate and if the Titanic liberal culture can ever be turned around, it will only be after hard lessons are learned and the voters can easily assign blame.

I say, let’s get out of the way and let Americans have it all now, while some may still have a faint memory of the jewel of what was, and so might have a chance of choosing to return to Liberty rather than devolving into Third World status.

This lobster seems to need to feel an even greater boiling water heat. They chose it. Let them have it all. Reason doesn’t work with these people. They are beyond those appeals.

Time for tough love. Let the teenagers drive the car unrestricted and maybe we can recover after the inevitable car gets wrapped around the tree.

America now resembles the guy that jumped off the Empire State building only to decide to reverse course after descending to the 25th floor. He must suffer the natural consequences of his irrational acts before he can act to improve his lot.

Let them eat totalitarianism.

I think they need to let things come to a vote and then all republicans should abstain and let the things pass with only democrat votes.

The last think we want to give Obama is bipartisan cover. That will kill the GOP for good.

Agreed, but I am sympathetic to the author's strategy. Follow the Sen. Obama strategy and ABSTAIN: can't be accused of obstruction or support.

Not to “let Obama have his way”, but show up (so as to form a quorum), vote “present”, and let the Democrats all vote for the measure, with not one Republican vote in support.

There is a law in place, passed by both the House and Senate, and signed by the President in his official capacity, which allows the tax rates to revert to those that existed before the “Bush tax cuts”, and also requiring sequesteration of allocation of funds for the operations of the Federal Government at a flat rate up and down the line.

The temporary reduction in the payroll deduction for FICA also reverts from 5.65% to 7.65%, and that seems to be on track. At least nobody is talking about it.

If Republicans are supposed to be the “do-nothing” party, then perform your duty, and “do nothing” to help this farce.

There is no dishonor in standing up and fighting Obama for the next two years and getting voted out by an immoral electorate.

If the GOP rolls over and gives Obama what he wants, there will be no reason to choose a Republican over a Democrat.

No. If the Democrats had their way we'd all be dead. They have no intention of letting us ever wield power again.

Ever.

Every Marxist claque that has ever taken over a nation has killed its opposition. Why should we think this group would be any different?

obama, his lickspittles and the cheerleading press will never own failure. All blame will be foisted upon Conservatives and the slave owners who signed those old outdated documents.

They should vote present that way they did not support or obstruct. Obama voted that way all the time so libs can hardly complain. When the wealthy leave and jobs get more scarce, it will be owned by Obama. The end will be the same one way or the other so the sooner it fails the sooner we can pick up the pieces.

The problem is that by killing the dog the fleas simply do what fleas do and flee — to another host.

Exactly right. Say no to bipartisan nonsense. Let the takers own it.

Keep the military strong and let the rest destroy itself.

Fleas? Yeah, right. Many years ago this dog had fleas.

You still want to treat terminal cancer with a flea bath.

People even here apparently have no clue or understanding that a despotic Marxist tyranny - unopposed, is PERMANENT?

That multiple MILLIONS of their own people die via starvation, killing and imprisonment at their hands?

That NEVER AGAIN do a people have a voice in their future?

Letting this regime have what they want as some kind of teaching tool for the masses to suffer their choice - is woeful ignorance of how and what will actually happen.

One reason to not give the president is the budget process

Just a quick recap. The president can only sign what goes on his desk, which comes from the Senate, which came from the Congress. It takes five years in for spending and policy to make the final stages of approval.

For instance, money is proposed for a major construction by the Joint Chiefs of Staff/DoD, and it sent to the Congress. This goes into the list of items for approval. If approved, it is given a funding date in the future four years from now. Next year, and each of the following years it is subject to cuts, or it may live on without a dime being spent. After five years, the money is approved by the Congress.

This process goes from Agencies to the Congress, to the Senate, and hopefully to the President. It goes up, it goes down. With each trip up or down through the House or Senate, it changes.

There is no way in hell any sane person would just give him what he wants. He only has four years - hence the beauty of the GAO and the budget process.

The mere fact that this sitting President has FAILED TO SECURE A BUDGET means that he is at the first year. Anything that this President wants in a Budget can and may very well be cut by the follow on administration.

So that same sense of honor should have allowed GW Bush to have his way? I think not, as the voters have made clear that a divided government is in their best interests.

Obama is going to self-destruct on his own with fuel prices, food prices, a loss in AFG, the economy, unemployment, and increased terrorism on our shores.

***************************************

Did you write this before this past election? Because it’s obvious these things mean nothing and will not affect Obama.

Well said.

I predicted the economy, gas prices, and housing market would sink Baraq.

I was completely wrong.

The demographic trend is killing us I believe.

“Our” voters are dying off being replaced by groups that vote 70% plus Democrat.

Only if those things were actually causing privation. Due to entitlements, the economy doesn't affect people and cause them to act.

The only thing that's going to reset this is the inability of the gov't to deliver these entitlements, ie, the "safety net".

This the fundamental difference between the rats and GOP. When the rats lose, they get even nastier and fight dirtier. They stopped Bushs reforms dead when he had a clearer mandate in 04 then Zero has today. Before last Tuesday, Reid was promising to refuse to work with Romney if he won.
Instead we are going to roll over and give them everything they want. They have been getting everything in places like Detroit and Philly for a generation, didit teach them a lesson?

Nope the house should move ahead with their own agenda, THAT WAS a clearer referendum then Zeros win. If it means 4 years of grid lock, so much the better.. THAT’S what the nation voted for Tuesday.

Yes in many respects the whole country is like that family in 2007 riding a wave of false prosperity based on maxxed out credit cards and helocs on a house with negative equity.

Instead of two leased SUVs and a McMansion it’s a full menu of entitlements.

I wish I had some insight on when it will implode...
