The father of David Petraeus' mistress Paula Broadwell has defended his daughter today as an 'exceptional person', saying he supports her 100 per cent after details of her sordid affair with the decorated general were made public.
General Petraeus's relationship with Broadwell, his biographer, was revealed on Friday after an FBI investigation which suspected corruption between the pair.
Broadwell's father Paul Kranz, a retired high school basketball coach, suggested that the explosive revelations that led to Petraeus resigning as CIA director, have been used to cover up a bigger scandal.
Grandma Broadwell took her Facebook page down. I feel bad for that family. Grandma’s page could have been mine although I quit doing the stupid games. I wish them well.
If this is part of a bigger scandal, then hiring all these lawyers makes sense.

I really don’t get it. She had a beautiful family. Was it worth the risk? And Petraeus - thought he was so smart. Wouldn’t surprise me if there was no affair. Not sure what to make of all of this, but it isn’t just about sex.

I have no doubts that there is more behind this than anybody is telling us.
What I do doubt is that our stupid Congress will ever have the balls - or integrity - to get to the bottom of this story.
This is why I love the UK papers. They give us so much more to work with. :)
Does anyone know - was Broadwell being paid to write the Patreus book? If so, who was paying her & what are her qualifications?
Let’s play a game. What if she really didn’t ‘bed him’? What if he only SAID she did to get himself out of a jam? What if his two ‘lady’ friends down there in Florida set HER up? And it’s all backfiring?

It has everything that appeals to the media about a scandal (sex, men in power, resignation, CIA, etc) except for one very vital thing: A Republican President.
You can hear the laments of the columnists from here. Meanwhile, the subscribers and viewers dwindle down even more as do the profits.

You would think that the woman Kelley from Florida after getting threatning emails from Broadwell, would have told Petraeus about them before going to the FBI. I mean Kelley and her doctor Husband were suppose to be such close friends of Petraeus and his wife. Very strange. Does not make since.
I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if this is an equal-opportunity scandal and both sides of the aisle want to sweep it away.
I have no doubt OBama attempted to blackmail Petraus with the revelation of the affair and Petraus just decided to own up.
My only question is whether the scarlet woman was sent on a mission from Obama to keep the good general in line.
Maybe Bubba can give her some advice.
And we have yet to hear of her political affiliation....so I'm going to make a stab at it....Starts with "D"..........
cover-up? Doesn't seem to me like this is providing any cover for anything. It is inviting the kind of detailed examination that can only come about from a full press-fueled "sex scandal." And yes, am sure lots of folks would like to cover up lots of things.
I am just waiting for the MB to be traced to their (treasonous) supreme leader and enabler in the White House.

Petraeus was a competitive, athletic man in positions of major power. His wife defines dowdy. What did she expect would happen? She must have been deeply depressed to let herself go like she did. I don’t believe for a second that she is just finding out. He has to have been doing things like this for years.

I’m in Tampa. Don’t want to knock the lady, she may well be the innocent here. I know some people, who know some people who know her, and the general consensus is that she’s somewhat of a flake..ditzy, shallow, overly materialistic a social climber. IOW, like millions of other American women.

It makes sense if at least one of the threatening emails came from Petraeus’ gmail account. He and Broadwell may have been sharing that account, like terrorists do. You just type a message to someone else and send it to the Draft folder w/o actually sending out in cyberspace, thus keeping out of reach of prying eyes. The other person with the password logs in to read it and then deletes it, leaving a draft message of her own.
IIRC, someone connected with the OKC bombing was doing this... it was a mystery why he loaned his laptop to an Al Queada member. (Nick Berg? Can’t remember.)
Keep all of your stuff that you would rather not have anyone else seeing encrypted with GPG encryption. Can be downloaded for free. Even the NSA can’t currently break it. JUST BE SURE THAT YOU DON’T LOSE YOUR SECRET KEY. Make a couple of copies on flash drives. Even with your key your encryption can’t be broken without your passphrase. Make it reasonably long. eg “drunk with fatigue deaf even to the hoots of tired outstripped five nines”
