REACHING OUT

Posted on 11/11/2012 3:44:20 PM PST by 7thson

Another question for Freepers. Specifically, Freepers who are black, Hispanic, and women.

Before and since the last election, I keep hearing that the Republican Party needs to do a better job at reaching out towards blacks, Hispanics, and women. Also, the youth vote. My question - what is meant by reaching out? What precisously does the Republican Party need to say to these groups in order to get their votes? Are we suppose to outbid the Leftists?

I have decided I am throwing all civility out the window, just like the left has. All bets are off, I am going to treat them just like they do me.
If the Republicans reach out they will just get their arm broke off. I am done.

How about Hispanics, or anyone, who are here legally and who care about the laws and the culture of our land. Being here legally is a step, but not a guarnatee.

there are not enough rino’s to carry an election without conservatives, but they won’t run anyone that isn’t a rino so lots of people stay home and the media make a big deal of it, but for the wrong reasons...

Thanks. Yes, I am male. I would also like to point out to libs their weird views regarding the death penalty (usually against) and for abortion (for). The irony of the position makes it a low ‘hanging fruit’ with which to hit them. Wipe the smug from their faces.

I think we see the problem right here. Someone asks an intelligent question and immediately “ conservatives” here go into the they all want freebies crap. I won’t speak for horny college girls or Blacks, but I work with a number of Hispanics and they are as a group the hardest working, most family oriented people I know. They work all week and then do other things on weekends to make a little extra. None of them are asking for a handout.

If I was Hispanic and listened to the people on this forum and the Limbaugh’s and Ingraham’s of the world I wouldn’t want anything to do with those who are portrayed as the voice of conservatism. RR got 37% of the Hispanic vote and GWB got 45%. Arizona, Texas, NM and FL. have large Hispanic populations and GOP governors so it is not and impossibly to win them over. Of course calling them names and insulting them is not a great way to proceed.

Most Latinos are church-going, hard-working and family oriented. A Mexican laborer was asking me to explain why the government here pays grown men not to work. He leaves for work at 5 am and when he gets home after 3, he sees all these people who obviously don’t work. He told me a Latina cashier was explaining to him how she has a home and gets benefits as long as her boss doesn’t pay her over a certain amount. He is shocked that there are so many gaming the system. The way to reach more people like him, translate Rush, Michael Savage, Hannity into Spanish! Our message will more than resonate with the hard working people who see in their own neighborhoods the folly of the welfare state. Hard working people are the same everywhere.

Ronald Reagan reached out and did an amnesty deal and it NO GOOD . You will never be able to out bit the leftist as they will just offer more and more . Caving in will get them deeper into trouble with their conservative base that right now is having a hard enough time swallowing the garbage the Republicans are trying to pass off on us.

You can NOT win an election if your conservative base refuses to show up because they can’t tell the difference between the candidate one party puts up over the other.

You are just not hip enough to look cool playing Santa Clause so the ones holding their hands out are just going to grab what you offer and laugh in your face .

Forget the hispanic and black vote - you will never get it until you educate them . Stop letting the party of the KKK rewrite history .

You want to win ? Get voter id laws passed in all states and end early voting . No mail in ballots for anyone but the military stationed overseas. You can’t show up on voting day to bad it must mean you really don’t care enough . You don’t have picture id ? How the heck do you cash your checks , get into school or anything else.
You are losing because the other side does not care what it has to do to win and they will cheat any way they can .

Cave into this immigration mess and this country will never be anything ever again .
If the Republicans cave on Obamacare they can forget their base . We value life and that includes the lives of our elder relatives which they intend to deny medical care to .
We value life and have no desire to be forced to pay to murder the unborn children of others .
Give up on this and you can have fun trying to get any of us to show up to vote for you ever again .

You are correct to a point. More goodies will buy votes. But, you have to give more attractive goodies than the opposition party AND you have to have at least as good a propaganda system. A chronic and fatal weakness of the GOP is the lack of a good propaganda system to compete with the NYT, HuffPo, LATimes, NBC, etc. Each one is small but collectively they spread a lot of propaganda and they send the kind of simple sound-bite sized messages that typical voters can grasp. Add to that the generation’s greatest propagandists such as M Moore plus the entertainment industry, then throw in mandatory tax on wages (union dues) paid into a propaganda organization (the union) and you can see that even freebies will not be enough to achieve political wins.

Without a propaganda system at least that good, you can give out lots of free goodies and have little effect—remember the Medicare prescription drug program? 1980’s amnesty? Tax rebates under Bush?

The left has spent so much time defining the right...

I think you hit it precisely. Let me presume to finish that sentence another way: The left has spent so much time defining the right that there is no longer any common ground on which to debate. Let me repeat that last, depressing clause: there is no longer any common ground on which to debate. And they intend to keep it that way.

You've seen it; we've all experienced it. Your opponent claims that he believes in freedom and it turns out that every single one of his applications represents a claim on your freedom, on behalf of society, of Saving The Earth, of the Greater Good. He believe in freedom, yes, but only the freedom to agree with him. She claims to believe in free speech, but only her own - yours to the contrary is offensive and "hate speech" and hence permissible to suppress. He believes that the Black Congressional Caucus is an expression of free association but any White Caucus would be intolerably racist. Don't bother trying to counter any of these arguments from principle; the rejoinder is always that you only disagree out of some sort of mental pathology or self-interest when it's really only a refusal to accept fantasy for reality.

I've made it very clear to my (nearly all) liberal relatives that politics is off the table for now for just that reason: we have no common ground. For some reason that seems to alarm them although I do not know why, exactly. Most of them haven't put much more thought into it than "hooray, my side won and those conservative meanies lost." And I don't argue politics with children.

The Repubs have “reached out” for decades and have the most amazing and accomplished members of most groups. It doesn’t matter if you can’t get the message out and you don’t have a propaganda system to match or beat that of your opposition party.

Pshaw, right.

Anyway, “hardworking” has nothing to do with it.

Especially when they send their “hard-earned money” whatever that is, to their country of origin to be circulated in that country and not this one.

Do they have any concept of the Constitution and our laws , culture and language, or do they abuse it? It’s one or the other.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, 79% of Mexican illegals with children and 71% of all illegals with children receive some form of government assistance.

OTOH, a lot of liberals consider being pro-life and pro-death penalty to be a contradiction.

I do not talk to leftists much because I get tired of the cursing and name calling after a few minutes. However, if the individual is not a full bore leftist, what do you think of starting off with the left is lying to you about - and mention the topic? If you say they are lying and then lay out the facts, what do you think about that?

Tell everyone the truth about what our Constitutional Republic is supposed to look like.

Forget about “reaching out” to groups who identify more with their race/national origin/sex etc than being an American.

The Rs need to be courageous, principled, truthful and mission oriented (and I don’t mean just winning and that’s it). Not corrupt self serving cowards who are actual socialist-lite.

Then they’ll win elections and have a reason to do so.
