I say drop the whole election problem onto the military, look first at using the national Guard from each state, they register you, give you your voting dog tag with its unique chip.
And they will take the votes at armed stations guaranteeing an honest election, and I seriously doubt even the Guard will corrupt the election one way or the other.

Thumbprint votes were good enough for Iraq, remember? So why not do something like that here?
Thumb and fingerprint scanners are good to go. When you get registered, they scan your finger or thumb. Then when you vote they do it again.
For people who are shut ins or invalid, when they insert a thumb or finger into the scanner, a picture is taken of their face, along with a GPS coordinate, to insure they are conscious and aware and are where they are said to be.
The way this can be done without violating the heck out of privacy is for the issuing state to restrict access to the fingerprint database to “for election purposes only”. This means they do not share with the police, federal government or private company, except when the state board of elections determines vote fraud has occurred.
