Free Republic Media Watchers Target NBCNews
self | 11/11/12 | Chiller

Most all of us agree Main Stream Media (MSM, Old Media, the Alphabets....) was a factor in this cycle. It began with WH shill George Stephanopolous' planted debate question to Romney about contraception, and continued through the ignored tragedies in the wake of Sandy on Staten and Long Islands that Obama had supposedly healed with his 2 hour visit. Our goal is to hasten MSM demise by concentrating our efforts. Please join us.

It's difficult to turn off ALL media all the time, so let's agree to one at a time. NBC News programs are my suggestion and consensus choice of our Sunday Morning News Show thread. They're all bad, but NBC News seems the worst offender. )

We will have an affect if we concentrate our efforts rather than dilute the effort over the huge spectrum of TV News.)

We know NBC/MSNBC's ratings are weak and getting weaker across the various platforms, perhaps even extending beyond news. My goal, our goal, is to put them out of business with a final killing financial shiv. Old media proved they're not quite dead...yet. I say kill 'em.)

Start today by avoiding NBC News programs. Spend those minutes and hours elsewhere, even if it's one of the other alphabets to get the mainstream spin. (Remember fundamentals; one at a time)

The sentiments of hundreds of us on this thread are likely shared by a good portion of the FR nation. And certainly another 47% of the country share some or all of our sentiments. Simply ignore NBC News. They're irrelevant.)

Step one; A noticeable loss of numbers for NBC News will add up and be noticed. Cable and satellite digital companies certainly know who's watching what, when. If they know, advertisers know.

Lost viewership = lost impressions to advertisements = reduced sales of advertised products = loss of sponsors.

I'm hesitant to boycott commercial enterprises (the companies that advertise), but they must know they'll be wasting their money on a huge portion of their audience if they advertise on NBC News.

We'll not be exposed to your ads, and if we are, we sure as hell won't patronize them. Something's got to change. We'll start here and now.

Our mantra needs to be “NO BIPARTISAN COVER FOR OBAMA!”

They won, it’s all on them now, we won’t be a part of it.

I’ll give the Left credit where credit is due ... they know how to go after the Right with a vengeance .... organized, persistent, no-holds-barred.

Remember, Comcast is the parent company of NBC and MSNBC.

If you give money each month to Comcast, you are giving money to NBC.

You know what you have to do.

Local news needs to be put on alert, too!

Big city news outlets are notoriously liberal...never reporting on the problems with Obama's economy...we see that in every Miami TV station, the newspaper, and even the RADIO station that carries Rush Limbaugh--the "news" presented on the local level on that radio station is disgustingly liberal.

I am not saying "local" news has to be CONSERVATIVE, but it should be BALANCED, and it isn't.

There is a "blog" by one of the news reporters on the local ABC station in Miami that reeks of liberalism.

Even the FOX affiliate in Miami is in the Obama Kool Aid Camp.

So let's not forget to take the locals to task...they might even be MORE responsive than networks--because they KNOW they're hearing from local readers/listeners/viewers.

I don't have much optimism for this approach. I think I'd rather concentrate on getting the new news media more widespread. Smartphone apps, tablet news sidebars/slide-ins, electronic billboards that can stream real-time info.

Advertise it as a way to keep up with what's going on in the world. Stream tech info, investment info, weather, local news, whatever the user wants. And do it all with bits leaning right of center. Make it so people just can't live without it.

Get aggressive with pushing our message out and shut out the liberal one. Profess to being "mainstream"/unbiased, but be right-of-center (like the "news" media of today say they're unbiased but continue to spout DNC talking points).

We can also ask Hannity/Fox, Rush, et al, to stop telling us what outrageous or slanted thing Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, and other nuts have said. Totally ignore them, don’t play clips, don’t quote them, never mention their hating names. About the only attention they get is from saying hateful things, then sitting back while we blow up in outrage. If a tree falls in a forest...etc.If they know we don’t hear them, and we won’t if the talkers don’t play clips, then it won’t be so fun to poke at us.

I haven’t watched the network news programs for twenty years.
You and me both, plus CNN, MSNBC, PBS, etc.
Don't know why any conservative would still watch any of them.

Your initial premise is wrong.

The DLEMM - Dominant Liberal Establishment Mass Media - is not mainstream. They're leftists and leftists are not mainstream. People need to stop referring to them as if they are. Collectively, they're enemies of the republic because they actively seek its demise. That might be mainstream in Peking and inside the Kremlin but it sure as hell isn't here.

The best solution is to simply to drop cable and TV completely. I did that Thursday and explained to Comcast exactly why.

This screws both the corrupt news media but also Hollywood. And it saved me about $80.00 per month.

Are you up for starting a ping list on this?

If we are truly serious about this, we will need organization.

I’m a senior citizen. When I was a kid, I watched the ABC, NBC, and CBS all the time. It’s about about ten years since I have stopped going to these channels for any reason. Not only do they not support conservative values, they mock them all the time in any way they can. It’s not about just the news. It about the total amoral package they push. And I used to love Disney, but Walt is long gone. And the leftist people who run it own ABC. If you support the mouse, you support the msm.
And I also feel that we should be able to get cable packages which do not include channels like MTV, the comedy channel (which is very gross and not funny), and Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon is especially dangerous because the left uses it to indoctrinate kids. If you didn’t know, MTV owns Nickelodeon.
The real problem isn’t who is president. The real problem is what are the core values of the people of this country. For years, the left has been stealing our kids and replacing their values with ours. We need to take the culture back, and please no whining. We can do it if we try. It’s only over when we give up.

I was pleasantly surprised the other day to notice our cable has done away with MSNBC. I never watched it so don’t know when this happened.

That makes two of us.

The money I save just barely covers my 2013 increase in health care premiums. That, by the way, was the smallest increase in three years. I would have to stop buying gas and heating my house to cover last year's increase.
