Election officials in St. Lucie County will recount early votes cast in the hotly contested race for Florida's 18th district's House seat between Tea Party favorite Rep. Allen West and his challenger, Democrat Patrick Murphy.

The St. Lucie County Canvassing Board announced late Saturday it had set an “emergency meeting” to start at 7 a.m. Sunday at its headquarters, to “recount all ballots cast during early voting.” The number of early ballots is estimated by officials to be roughly 37,000.

West, who has refused to concede the race, is currently trailing Murphy by 2,442 votes, according to the latest results from Florida Division of Elections. On its website, the agency says West has garnered 164,448 votes to Murphy’s 166,890.

"There are possible irregularities in St. Lucie County," claims Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a Florida lawyer volunteering for the West campaign...

I’ll try to act surprised when the recount changes nothing. :(

someone should have a Veteran's Day parade march in there

What’s this about then?

Allen West Wins Congressional Race: Report

Florida congressman Allen West has won his re-election bid by a narrow enough margin to prompt a full recount, according to sources within the Republican’s ranks.

“Boots on the ground update from the Allen West election count via Gary Angelo Galiano: ‘We win by 195,’” Congresman West supporter Gary Angelo Galiano posted on his Facebook account early Saturday morning.

I thought Gore v. Bush established that a state must treat all ballots equally and can't selectively cherry pick which ballots to recount

If this was a dem behind in the race there would have been an airlift of attorneys

the GOP ... nothing

Oh He’ll yeah. this ain’t over. I am Soooooooo thankful to see someone I office that isn’t going to take this crap lying down. I pray to God that we will be at LEAST able to hold the line right here. How refreshing to see a fighter on our side. We need West and he will need us.

How utterly sad to think that his greatest battle would take place on his home soil. But if he prevails, and I think he will, that would and should inspire us to keep fighting this fight.

I heard the same thing from the challengers to Gregoire in Washington State and to Franken in Minnesota.

They'll just keep recounting until the Dem finally wins. (Like 3 or 4 recounts in WA? C'mon!)

Not surprising, really, since it was the GOP that stabbed him in the back. As for which ballots to recount, we can’t have too close a look at the ones that were manufactured after the polls closed.

Partial recount - here we go again... Count until the Rat finds enough votes, then stop. For god’s sake, don’t count the military ballots!

The group Revive America has rallied to support West should he mount a legal challenge. The conservative group sent out an email Saturday calling for donations and saying Washington Republicans are now giving West little help.

Why am I not surprised.

Because Boehner knows if he tried that “get in line” crap with West, that the Col. would tell Bone-head to shove it up his fat Washington arse. Boehner does not want a free thinking Patriot in the GOP House caucus. He wants sheep.

Me too. This sounds like irresistable grounds to go to court and win a recount.

Admitting there were any irregularities also opens the door to deeper investigation.

The RNC gets its money from the crony capitalists for whom the deals are done. I get it. The Tea Party is raining on that parade, and there are a lot of deals to be made if folks like West would go away so Obama and Boehner can engage in a little win-win-taxpayers lose negotiations.

This would be a good opportunity for the GOP to charge the Dems with “Racism” for the vote fraud committed against West

Instead, the GOP will pander to Illegal Aliens...the Stupid Party

Here is the tabulation from St Lucie:

http://www.slcelections.com/Pdf%20Docs/2012%20General/GEMS%20SOVC%20REPORT.pdf

Note that there are/were 397 Blanks [No Vote] for the Presidential race, but then 4693 Blanks [No Vote] for the Senatorial race, and then 5086 Blanks [No Vote] for the House race.

What that means is that about 4500 people voted in the Presidential race and left the others Blank.

Would 4500 people do that??? Is that believable??? Is that what West is going after???

As St. Lucie County recount begins, West camp calls it a ‘sham’ and Murphy lawyer raises qualms

http://www.postonpolitics.com/

They should at least count all early votes especially since officials apparently cannot determine which ballots have and have not been counted.

Bears repeating. The GOP should be contesting all the battlegrounds states just in case there are "irregularities" - Just a few signature checks might uncover enough to go for full recounts. IMHO.

Oh and the GOP has to move fast before the tallies are certified. Not holding my breath. Sigh.

Is there a final ‘verdict’ or result’ on West’s challenge?

Did he indeed win in St Lucia and there will be a re-count?
