This is the Way “Forward” – Gov. Scott Nixes ObamaCare Healthcare Exchanges [YES!]
Shark-Tank.net ^ | 11/9/12 | Lone Shark

There’s one path “forward” for Republicans if they’re serious about reclaiming power in the future- do not capitulate to the failed ideas and destructive economic policies that President Barack Obama will assuredly quadruple down on in the wake of his re-election. It’s one thing to win an election by misleading and bribing the masses, but let me be clear, as Obama would say- in no way, shape or form did the president win a national debate on the merits of his policies- and his policies, when they are fully implemented will undoubtedly cost us jobs, raise our taxes and further strain our already cash-strapped state budget.

Governor Rick Scott is showing the way forward if Republicans want credibility as the clear alternative to the statist interventions that Democrats offer, as he’s declined to implement the state health insurance exchanges that were mandated with ObamaCare.

From the Sarasota Herald-Tribune:

Speaking on the New College of Florida campus following a meeting of the state’s university governing board, Scott said it will cost taxpayers and business owners too much to expand Medicaid and set up health insurance exchanges as called for under the law.

“No one has been able to show me that that health care exchange is going to do anything rather than raise taxes, raise the cost of our companies to do business,” Scott said, adding that expanding Medicaid would also require tax increases.

If you’re curious to check out some first class stupidity about our state’s budgetary constraints as well as some general ignorance about how the health care system should “work,” check out the comments below the article.

Suffering from a touch of BDS, are we? Jeb Bush was a good governor.

Jeb stood around and let insurance companies rape Floridians after Andrew...

Jeb wasn't even governor until 7 years after Andrew. And the market WAS a mess before and after that...insurance companies didn't "rape" Floridians--they were trying to find a way to make a profit in a tough market.

Charlie Crist, the real assclown who was our governor, CHEERED when it appeared as thought State Farm was going to leave the state...which would have resulted in even higher rates for everyone.

The insurance market in Florida, I grant you, is a mess...but the solution isn't chasing away companies--like Crist did--but try and bring business back.

But to say Jeb "stood around" I think is a bit overboard.

Yes, I was here for all 8 years of Jeb’s tenure and he WAS a good governor. He would, I think, have been a better President than Dubya...and I did like Dubya.

Jeb was a bit more “executive” like, though.

I think he is doomed to never be a President, though, because of his name.

I would like to see him run for Senate someday. He’d be better than that jerkwad Bill Nelson.

If a state does not have an exchange, the mandate does not apply for the employer or individual. The federal exchanges have no mandatory funding mechanism. Resist we much.

Jeb would have been a lot better than Dubya because he was more aggressive and more commanding but at the same time warmer, and I doubt he would have let the press get away with trashing him, as his brother did. But so many people on the right have drunk the media koolaid and hate GW Bush (and by extension, anybody in his family) that I don’t think Jeb has any chance in the future.

I can’t believe that Nelson won! Connie Mack was a good candidate and would have been a great senator.

It is amazing to think that Bobo’s legacy will be healthcare rationing; and even more amazing that he truly believes that’s a legacy worth having.

Why so excited?

Obamacare only awaits the next Democrat Governor, who will then implement it.

"RESIST the usurping bastards at the state level!!"

I know you care nothing of me, but some time ago, you and I and others created an organization whose mission was "Original Intent" and "States Rights". Original Intent has been long corrupted through the Commerce and Welfare Clauses in the body of the Constitution. However, Amendments supercede any contract and I have always believed that the States could restore our Federal system if given enough support.

I said so when we first started VetsCoR and in many articles and posts since, I still believe it. The DC Fedgov is a growing leviathan which I lost faith in many years back. The only recourse we have now is through States Rights via the 9th and 10th Amendments. Now, more than ever, is the time to fight for the 10th Amendment!!!

LET THE STATES DECIDE THEIR FUTURE!
