More on the Timing of Petraeus’s Resignation
Powerline ^

Posted on 11/10/2012 11:17:04 AM PST by Perdogg

Ronald Kessler of Newsmax has more details on the Petraeus affair. They are rather sordid, and raise more questions about the timing of his resignation:

[A]n FBI source says the investigation began when American intelligence mistook an email Petraeus had sent to his girlfriend as a reference to corruption. Petraeus was commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan from July 4, 2010 until July 18, 2011.

The investigation began last spring, but the FBI then pored over his emails when he was stationed in Afghanistan. …

Given his top secret clearance and the fact that Petraeus is married, the FBI continued to investigate and intercept Petraeus’ email exchanges with the woman. The emails include sexually explicit references to such items as sex under a desk.

Osama Obama....as usual, putting country ahead of personal glory. If this country had a press that wasn’t a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Rat Party this whole thing would become Dead Ambassador-gate.But we don’t so it won’t.

My understanding is that the House can still compel him to appear and,if they grant him immunity, they can *compel* him to testify. You can't take the 5th in a situation like that if you have immunity.

Republican Party Congressional leadership reaction..

"Well darn.. golly gee. We were hoping to hear from the general but we appreciate that Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama Valerie Jarrett will testify in his place. It's such a blessing, Mr. President, thank you for taking time out of your day! Oh, gracious God, thank you so much!"

None of this adds up, read the story. The FBI “mistook” a Petraeus email for a reference to corruption. Using that as a ploy, they proceeded to monitor his affair and get every salacious detail, some of which they are leaking to the press.

This was done to get him when they wanted to get him.

It’s going to hit a “CIA Wall”, and go nowhere substantive.

Think about it folks, this was an affair THAT WAS OVER! Months ago. His big crime was emailing a woman to get back with her.

But he had to resign now?

It adds up perfectly: they already had the goods on him when they nominated him to head the CIA—a classic compromised pick.

exactly. Clinton did the same thing. Janet Reno was compromised that is why he kept her around after the branch dividians. He needed that ability to control investigations.

What I don’t understand is why Obama isn’t being called out for picking a knowingly compromised guy to head the CIA.

Other than that his opposition party is a kennel of lapdogs.

Yeah, it’s reminiscent of the games between the Gestapo and the SS from the history books…

Such baloney. When Clinton, the President of the United States, was getting regularly serviced by a woman not his wife nobody seemed to think it was news or even blackmailable. Yet NOW they're worried about Petraeus...so worried that the FBI had to do this? Bull. Nobody cares from a blackmail standpoint about public officials having affairs and nobody resigns over them. He was forced out plain and simple.

Called out by whom specifically? Look its the same thing with the press. You do not get to play in the political sand box unless the press has something on you. er go Palin. They could find nothing so they had to sideline her. Called out by Senators? They are compromised as well. Who is going to call Obama out?
