Mere 400 votes separate McSally, Barber (AZ, Cong. Dist. 2)

The Congressional District 2 showdown between Republican Martha McSally and Democrat Ron Barber has gone into overtime - and it could come down to instant replay.

McSally holds a minuscule lead of less than two-tenths of a percentage point over Barber - a 400-vote difference in a race in which more 228,000 votes have been tabulated, with several days of additional vote counting to go.

What remains are an estimated 70,000 votes in Pima County, about 27,000 of them provisional ballots that need to be verified and the rest early ballots that were dropped off at polling places or delivered in the late mail on Tuesday. There is also an unknown number of outstanding ballots in Cochise County.

I haven't seen many threads about this race but former Warthog pilot, Col. Martha McSally, is in a tight race against democrat Rep. Ron Barber, who replaced Gabby Giffords after she resigned her seat.

Many may remember that Col. McSally successfully sued the U.S. government so American women would have the right to dress in western clothing in Saudi Arabia.

Here is McSally's website. I'm sure she'd appreciate some encouragement as she fights for a fair counting of the ballots.

Didn’t she want to kick Rick Santorum in the balls? If so, she can GTH.

This was the latest news I could find so if anyone has an update on what’s going on, please post it. I’d be interested to hear what other Arizonans think about this whole situation and whether the race should have been this close.

The Dems have the 300 votes in the trunk of a car at Wal Mart. Standing by.

The last I heard (more recently than this article), Comrade Barber was slightly ahead. I don’t know why they torture us this way - it will be the same thing that happened in 2010. Jesse Kelly won on election day (with something like 56 or 58%). But, after nearly a week of counting (aka finding in trunks and cemeteries) votes, Comrade Giffords “won.”

You can bet your last $ that the commies errr DummieRats in Pima County will do anything to keep comrade Barber in that seat.

Pima County, the blue stain on Arizona’s red dress.

She wanted to kick him in the "jimmy." I would like to see her go to congress in place of Barber. And I would especially like to see her kick a few liberal males in the "jimmy." But like most females, she reserves her rough tough stance towards Republican males, and will probably be silent in the presence of Democrat males. And perchance if the situation comes about where she DOES confront Democrat males, the media and her fellow Republicans will attack her.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr, tell me about it. I don’t like to go west of Wilmot, that’s the total People’s Republic. I had to drive through there yesterday and there are streets upon streets where the leftists advertise their stupidity (with rows and rows of Barber and BO signs).

Our ‘hood (East Side) is still considered to have the most conservatives and gun owners... and I rarely see the proud Commies advertising out here.

sorry to be cynical but what difference will it make if the Republican will support Boehner and or the GOP leadership gives in to what Obama wants almost every time? The President is not a Dictator, or is he?

I can’t stand her and her whole militant hate-men attitude. My parents, hubby, and I were all going to vote 3rd party or something because we can’t stomach her. But, at the last minute, switched and gave her four votes. Anything to break the hero-worship, place-on-altar, weeping-leftist Dem grip.

I really don’t believe your account of 2010 is correct as I watched that race intently because I donated to Jesse’s campaign. He was ahead early until Pima started to report and it turned at that point. I knew before I went to bed EST that it was close within 1% with Giffords in the lead. The outstanding precincts did not have any history of being other than Democrat.

My interest in that race is that being stationed at Huachuca after a lifetime as an Army Brat and veteran myself, it was the only place I felt at Home in my life of traveling the world.

As far as some characterizations of McSally, being a Hog Driver scored points with me as an unrelated issue, but her willingness to stand up for her universal rights as an American was commendable. I saw her a tough woman and nothing else. If those on this thread have any real, independent evidence to suggest otherwise, please fill us in with links.

I don’t admire her as a person either. Whatever negatives she has, she is still one cut above the Democrat.

At least she’s in the fight, no matter what you think of her. How many Arizona FReepers out there are running for office, rather than bloviating behind a keyboard?
