Is Petraeus Falling on His Sword?
American Thinker ^ | 11/10/12 | Fay Voshell

Was General Petraeus told by the Obama administration to fall on his sword? Was the general told he would be exposed unless he clammed up about Benghazi? Did he decide to blow his own cover before the president could? Could it be he is sitting on stuff that would tempt some in ccongress to consider the president's impeachment -- and Obama knows it?

There are so many unanswered questions.

[snip]

If he is ordered to tell the truth and does so, the consequences for the administration could be catastrophic.

Could people in DC/Chicago be thinking that he cannot testify about CIA without that agency first approving what he has to say? That would be false comfort for any who might believe this resignation will force the General to be silent.

Any prohibition on revealing the truth, even if classified, does not apply to sworn testimony in Congress or any court in the US. The House or Senate do not even need to subpoena Patraeus. They only need to get him there under oath.

This whole thing stinks! The FBI was spying and reading the CIA director’s email that they “just happened” to come across???? Think about it! Very strange!

With the stress and emotional trauma Patraeus may be experiencing he could literally fall on his sword.

Simply, water does not mix with oil. It doesn’t have to be about a deep dark conspiracy. The General quit and Obama just got reelected..it’s not rocket science.

It seems that he made a deal with Obama team.
He knows too much, but his lips are sealed.

America is in a dark age now. media is not media any more. We can’t get any truth.

They want to bring him down and tarnish his reputation because Petraeus IS widely respected and admired. That was when and if he does testify and come clean about this Benghazi mess, they can discredit him.

Makes you wonder IF this woman was part of the plan??????

I think the General has fallen on his sword for the good of the country. He by admitting to his tryst is saying to those who were blackmailing him “I’m coming to get you!”

He knows..............he needed to go, he didn’t keep himself clean or he was seduced. Here is where they had him. Cleanup all the loose ends. Many elected officials who were suppose to be on our side Im sure are being held in an agreeable position because of this tactic.

I suspect the FBI was looking at some bits of classified info appearing in a NY Times article, by the junior-journalist involved. They looked at her background....saw Patraeus and went to ask him what his current connection is to her. He probably sensed some massive investigation going on, and admitted what he had been doing...strictly hot passion, no talk. Then they asked to look at his private email situation, and found that she was hacking into his personal email account (Yahoo can tell you from what region you are loggin in from easily). The general at that point suddenly realized that she was literally screwing him in more ways than one. I think the General did the practical thing left....quit.

The curious thing is that he had some political aspirations. Now? I don’t think he will ever run for anything. He will simply retire from the public and live on some ranch out west.

On the other hand.... Let’s think about this logically...

If I, Petreaus, had something on you, Obama, and I was going to go pubic with it if subpoened, but before that would happen you, Obama, thru some surrogate made it clear that if I did the world would know about your extra marital affair what would I do?

1. Like most men run and hide and agree not to testify
2. If I’m afraid of no man, I would come forth on my own and admit my sin, before hand freeing myself from your blackmail.

I think this is a precursor to Petreaus coming forth. He NOW has the leverage on Obama as does Hillary. Why did she lawyer up after Benghazi?

You can be sure also, that Petreaus has told many people about this or has it documented. So if by chance he has an untimely death the word will still get out.

I guess, my friends, it comes down to this. The media was appalled at Watergate...but now we have basically a situation where a president showed his cowardess and let Americans die because he feared not getting re elected.

I cannot believe that we’ve grown, even our media, so callous and heartless than to see the evil and wrong in this, if indeed that is what happened.

What strikes me also, is the cover up seems to span into others like Pinnetta and Ham the General.

Is the media going to just let this drop? Is there not one former Navy Seal out there who wants to know what happened to his comrade?

Mark my words, Obama will be in the same predicament time and time again in the future...What will he do then esp if it means sending troops in to fight Muslims? He won’t.

Right now he is the most powerful man in the world, and he can tell these tin pot dictators what to do....but he won’t..he will cozy up to them....

Anyone who agrees to work as an ambassador for this country in light of all this...is crazy....

Unbelievable disgrace is totally believable when it comes from the democrats...

They actually use adultery to cover-up treasonous manslaughter.

Unbelievable/believable.

0bama has history of doing this kind of stuff from the time he first started runnng for public offices.

BUT...our military/cia/etc. ain’t all squeaky clean either.

We ‘re making a mistake to think in a SHTF moment they will save the nation. That is a romantic notion at best when some 50% of them voted for 0bama as well.

Ya, got a good taste of political reality he did... yet, if he puts his house in order, he can easily overcome this and swing the door wide open on this den of cockroaches. Even good moral men fall, but the really wise and courageous moral man confesses his sin and exposes the darkness that endangers us all... God, help him to be such a man...

Time will tell us why Patreaus resigned, but the article mentions Impeachment.

That’s a joke.

All impeachment come from the House.

Boehner

LMAO

The FBI knew about his affair long ago. Pretending they just found out about his emails is BS. If there even WERE emails to the skank.

I have a hard time believing Gen P is that stupid.
