Good questions. She did numerous spots on CNN yesterday. I will recap EXCERPTS without links. Maybe something will stand out.

CIA Director Petraeus Resigns; Can the White House and CongressAvoid the Fiscal Cliff?

CNN - Friday, November 9, 2012

Show: CNN NEWSROOM
Author: Barbara Starr, Bob Baer, Suzanne Kelly , Wolf Blitzer, ChrisLawrence, Brooke Baldwin, Jessica Yellin, Jill Schlesinger, AlisonKosik

BALDWIN: Apparently not. Chris Lawrence, do me a favor. Stand by. We have Suzanne Kelly standing by, who was the one who broke the news.

(snip)

SUZANNE KELLY , CNN NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE CORRESPONDENT: Yeah, and this is really — you know, if you can’t talk to the man himself and ask all these questions that everybody has for today, you can glean a lot of what he is thinking and feeling right now from the letter that was issued to the employees of the CIA just probably about an hour ago, Brooke.

And here’s what it says. “After being married over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable both as a husband and as a leader of an organization such as ours.”

There’s another little nugget later down in that letter, Brooke, where he quotes Teddy Roosevelt as once saying, “Life’s greatest gift is the opportunity to work hard at work that’s worth doing.”

This is what he said to his employees today. “I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that with you and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.”

And, Brooke, you know, obviously, there are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot of things that reporters will be digging into in the day ahead.

Why now? Why is this something that came out right now after the election, within days after the election? Did somebody have this information on him they were waiting to release? Why would you publicly humiliate your family in a way? Is it a way of being honest?

I mean, there are lots of questions that are going to l need to be answered in the next few days.

FBI Investigated Petraeus ‘ Relationship With Biographer; King:Resignation Came As A Total Shock; 500,000 Still Without Power AfterSandy; Tensions Rise In Queens After Sandy

CNN - Friday, November 9, 2012

Show: ERIN BURNETT OUTFRONT
Author: Erin Burnett, Suzanne Kelly , Frances Townsend, DeborahFeyerick, Jessica Yellin, Anderson Cooper, Tom Foreman

BURNETT: And Suzanne, is there any information that you have in terms of this investigation that the FBI had and to compromise this as to whether this woman that you mentioned, Paula Broadwell.

And we’ll talk a little bit more about her in a few moments, but that she would have accessed his information with his approval or unbeknownst to him?

KELLY: We don’t — what we know is that they had a very close relationship. As we mentioned, she does spend a year with him in Afghanistan. I know the two kept in touch. I’ve worked with Paula professionally as well. I’ve reached out to her several times today and haven’t gotten a response, but we do know that they still continue to talk very frequently. So in terms of sharing e-mails and things like that, there’s nothing that I can tell you on the record that is reportable.

(snip)

BURNETT: And Suzanne, let me ask you because I know you’ve been speaking to many of your sources within the CIA. How shocked are they at this?

KELLY: Stunned. I mean, there’s no better word for it, Erin. You know, something like this was just not seen at all on the radar. I mean, of course, there are whispers and things. Paula when she wrote the book had incredible access to him.

So if that flushes out to actually be true, you know, people were whispering about that, but just the fact that she’s a woman and she has access when she writes a book about a man in Washington is not reason enough to think there was more than that.

And given his reputation, his moral character, how many respect him at such a high level here in Washington and even as director in the CIA, you know, there were sometimes personality clashes.

Sources that told me between him and the number two in charge who the president has asked to step up in that number one role. But never anything that really ever compromised his moral character. More sort of his mind set in the way he felt things should be done, so people were stunned by this — Erin.

CIA Director Resigns; President Obama’s Economic Agenda

CNN - Friday, November 9, 2012

Show: THE SITUATION ROOM
Author: Gloria Borger, Jessica Yellin, Kate Bolduan, Suzanne Kelly ,Wolf Blitzer, Brianna Keilar; Arwa Damon; Fran Thompson; David Frum

KELLY: Yes, I think that’s almost an understatement, if it could be.

Just people didn’t see this coming. Not only did they not see it coming, but it comes out a few days after an election. And the reason, I think, is the thing that people are sort of reeling now, they just didn’t see someone like David Petraeus with his reputation, professional reputation, military background, someone really who is out there as a man of honor and integrity would have participated in something like this and certainly that it would not have come out this way, that the revelation that he indeed was having an affair would have come out and led to him stepping down from his post.

There is quite a bit of shock over in that neighborhood. I will tell you though in terms of the CIA, of course, the director is a politically appointed position. The person who now President Obama has asked to step in as the acting director is Michael Morell. He’s a career intelligence officer, been with the agency for some 32 years, so there have been a number of different directors, I think some five in the last eight years, something like that.

So the agency itself won’t be too affected in terms of the work by this movement. They’re under the direction now of Mr. Morell. But the shock I think will take a lot longer to wear off.

CIA Director Resigns; President Obama’s Economic Agenda; “Opento Compromise, New Ideas”; Navy SEALs Reprimanded Over Video Game;Obama’s Rare Display of Emotion

CNN - Friday, November 9, 2012

Show: THE SITUATION ROOM
Author: Gloria Borger, Jessica Yellin, Barbara Starr, Suzanne Kelly ,Wolf Blitzer, Lisa Sylvester, Kate Bolduan, Donna Brazile, AnaNavarro, Brian Todd

SUZANNE KELLY , CNN INTELLIGENCE CORRESPONDENT: Right, Wolf.

Well, I don’t think I can emphasize what a bombshell this was yesterday. In the letter that you quoted from that was sent to the employees of the CIA, this was really the first they were hearing and any of the rest of us were hearing about what’s obviously been going on for a while.

And, of course, while we can’t ask General Petraeus right now what’s going on in his mind, there are a few more nuggets in that letter that you just quoted from that he sent out to the work force today. He quoted Teddy Roosevelt when he said one of life’s greatest gifts is the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing. These are Petraeus ‘ own words. He said: “I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.”

So as you reported, Wolf, and as we now know, he’s stepping down as director. He’s held this job for just a little over just a year now, head of the CIA, because of an extramarital affair.

BLITZER: Who about the acting director? Who is that going to be?

KELLY: Well, the president has come out and already said it’s be acting deputy — or acting director who has been the former deputy director Mike Morell. Mike Morell is a career intelligence professional. He’s been at the CIA for years, his entire career.

He has helped see through the transition of several different directors of the CIA over the years, some five different directors in eight years. If there’s anything consistent here, it’s been Morell’s leadership at different ranks within the leadership of the CIA, different levels.

He’s had the top job now for a while, though. And if there’s any sort of sign that things at the CIA is going to be business as usual after they get over the shock of all of this, I think you’re going to see that leadership come through from Mike Morell.

BLITZER: Potentially, if he becomes the acting director, he certainly could become the full-time director if the president wants him to be the full-time director.

Other names though already circulating though, aren’t they?

KELLY: They are. And obviously it’s speculation and something this early nobody knows for sure.

But you know, John Brennan is somebody who was considered for this by the president from the very beginning. However, there were concerns over whether or not because of his sort of hard line on intelligence issues in the past that he would be able to pass congressional confirmation for this job, which is something you need to do. You don’t need to do that however in the job that he holds now in advising the president on counterterrorism issues.

It’s a possibility the president would try to push that through again. Jane Harman is another name we have heard. She is now, of course, head of the Wilson Center. She’s been very close to the intelligence community for a number of years. She’s also very passionate about what they do over there. And she hasn’t tried very hard to hide that passion over the years. So she’s another name we’re hearing.

But, of course, as the days go on and people sort of come back from the reeling shock of this announcement today, I think that will flesh out a little bit better.

BLITZER: Jane Harman was a member of the House Intelligence Committee for a long time, a longtime member of the House of Representatives before leaving to become the head of the Woodrow Wilson Center For Scholars here in Washington.

Suzanne Kelly , thanks very much.

Hurricane Sandy; CIA Director General David Petraeus Resigns

CNN - Friday, November 9, 2012

Show: ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES
Author: Anderson Cooper; Suzanne Kelly ; Drew Griffin; Robert Baer;Fran Townsend; Drew Griffin, Mary Matalin, David Frum

SUZANNE KELLY , CNN INTELLIGENCE CORRESPONDENT: We don’t know how long it was going on, but just the fact that the FBI was investigating something like this tells you few things. One, it was - if the FBI counter intelligence unit that was carrying out this investigation, so they’re the ones you would look into any sort of accusation of inappropriately say access to classified information. They looked in individuals who called clearances. Are they doing what they need to be doing to make sure that information stays safe. Is there any opportunity whatsoever that that information could be exploited by either a spy or anyone else who shouldn’t have access to that information. So the fact that they were the ones looking into this tells you that, you know, they were concerned about some e-mail things.

Let’s back up though, for just a moment. This was a tip that they were given that there was a relationship going on between the two, so what they would have dug into are things like e-mails and text and things like that. And we know that the two, if in fact, it does turn out to be Paula, and we can’t confirm that it is. We just know that access was given using her name. They would be looking at communications between the two over the years, and especially since, as you mentioned, General David Petraeus has taken over the directorship of the CIA which happened in September of last year. Anderson?

COOPER: And Suzanne, I mean, again, you said we don’t know how long the FBI was investigating. Do we know the Obama administration knew about this before the election?

KELLY: No, but wouldn’t we all love to know the answer to that. Because that really is a burning question. I mean, it’s just days after the election and something like this comes out. But clearly, something like this had been going on for a while. It wasn’t, you know, it’s not likely that a couple days after the election, general Petraeus had sort of a crisis of conscience and decided, you know, this is the time now for me to come clean on everything. Which also makes you wonder, did other people know about this, and was there a possibility they could have used this against him or to blackmail him in any way? Now, that would have spoken directly to his ability to hold a security clearance and protect those secrets as well, Anderson, so lots of unanswered questions. But I’m told more will be coming out in the coming days.

(snip)

KELLY: I will push back a little bit on that. And I take a very cautious approach to the Benghazi effort. You know, the person who is going to announce it in the hot seat and answer questions before the oversight committee is going to be Mike Morell, and he’s someone who has been very closely involved in this investigation obviously from the beginning, putting together the CIA’s timeline and whatnot.

But, you know, the president, if he really need a fall guy from Benghazi; that would have happened before the election, somebody to sort of say, all right, you know I messed up. I really don’t think that we have seen any strong evidence yet that the CIA made such fatal mistakes in Benghazi that someone had to take a fall like this. I mean, this is so significant that I think you just have to have a really strong body of evidence to prove something like that.

Ben Affleck finds David Petraeus remarkable, is buddies with Huma Abedin

October 11, 2012

(snip)

Petraeus was actually on hand, attending an event at the Canadian Embassy and then watching the film alongside other prominent Washingtonians at the movie theater in Chinatown. Also in the crowd were “Argo” cast members John Goodman and Bryan Cranston, along with former Rep. Anthony Weiner and his wife, State Department official Huma Abedin. Affleck explained why he invited his “good friend” Abedin, who in turn brought along her husband. “The reason why she is here, is she was instrumental in helping us shoot at the State Department,” Affleck said. “As you noticed, we shot at the real State Department ... our production designers were allowed to go inside and look at the seventh floor and recreate it.”

Since He was the C.I.A. director one would think he would have been a national security risk IF ? he was involved in some kind of affair.
Remember back in the 80s ? many US troops were tricked into giving sensitive Intel to Russian women ?
The Soviets were good at using this kind of tactic of using beautiful Russian women to seduce American troops to give up the goods.

“Can’t blame Petraeus.”

Really? I just don’t think she’s very attractive. I guess compared to his wife she is, but she certainly is not worth throwing your family and career away for. Then again, what do I know. I’ve been married to the same beautiful women for 30 years and have never even thought to cheat on her! I made a promise to honor her all the days of her life and I meant it! Petreaus is a pig and a hypocrite. How many speeches has he given to the Troops about honor, commitment, and loyalty. What a phony!! Way to walk the walk you disgraceful jackass!!

Who cares? General Petraeus singlehandily turned the war in Iraq around. For that alone, this nation is forever in General Petraeus’ debt.

So, an obvious question comes to mind: If Petraeus (Director of the FBI) was forced to resign over an affair, why would not a sitting President (Clinton, for those libs who are still in denial) have been required to do the same???
