On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Democrats were more than willing to raise the debt ceiling by another $2.4 trillion when America hits its current ceiling at the end of the year.

Exactly! What a farce!
We'll be there shortly.
Those with senators in red states up for reelection in 2014 should get on the phone.
Hey No Problemo, Esse. Future generations will be required to pay this massive debt off and Harry will be long gone by then.
No way. Off the cliff you go.
There is nothing more to lose.
What loafs of bread? There won’t be any food on the streets to buy no matter how many wheelbarrows full of federal reserves notes you have.
I doubt we’ll see another election... state and local, maybe in two years - but certainly not after that.
Then we get the blame when things taking for being obstructionist.
Let the Bush tax cuts expire and hit everyone (that pays) and let sequestration happen. We’re incapable as a nation of self governance any more.
It’s just money. We have plenty of ink and paper.
Get some balls Boehner!!!
You’re probably right... nothing to buy, and no amount of money could buy it if it showed up!
Well based on current spending trends that might just get the US through another 9 months.
“...a piece of bread will buy a bag of gold. I wish we’d all been ready...”
Just a song that keeps poppin’ into my head.
I can get behind that plan too but I hope we don’t forget we still have some influence on some senators when it comes to judges and cabinet positions.
I wonder how the folks that didn’t vote for “love of country” feel about that.
‘We will spend and spend, and tax and tax, and elect and elect.’ FDR crony Harry Hopkins, 1938
Yes indeed! We need to be ready.
get out of the way and vote present.
and dont run a 2016 president.
let it collapse rather than prolonging it.
Kinda like raising the floor above you, when the basement’s got 4ft of floodwater in it, makes it seem less deep.
There’s an old saying here in PA Farm Country: “Don’t eat your last apple”. (or you won’t have seeds to plant new trees and grown new apples)
And that movie is almost 40 years old now....
IMHO—the “Reagan revolution” was what bought this country about another 30 years or so...but sadly...we’ve finally run through all that Reagan got for us—including national security....
“Thief in the night”—May INDEED be a reality soon...
I’d like to know what congress knows about what will happen if they don’t raise the debt ceiling. I’m sure they know a lot more than we do. It must be bad.
Boner’s facade of ethics “come off faster than a prom dress”, don’t they.
Are you kidding, Johnny Boy will be begging for it and bringing his own KY Jelly!
Be careful..if he reads this...he might cry some more!!
The deal has already been struck, just waiting until the terms of the surrender are disclosed to the American people.
Remember the stories about Germany - people pushing around wheelbarrows full of money to buy a loaf of bread?
Could get even worse than that.
HARARE, Zimbabwe, April 25 “How bad is inflation in Zimbabwe? Well, consider this: at a supermarket near the center of this tatterdemalion capital, toilet paper costs $417.”
“No, not per roll. Four hundred seventeen Zimbabwean dollars is the value of a single two-ply sheet. A roll costs $145,750 ”
That was in 2006.
They don’t call him, The Weeper of The House, for nothing. LOL.
Why even have a debt ceiling! What’s the point.?
Today the media is slobbering and gushing all over the Dear Leader for shedding some faux tears.
Boner is The Grim Weeper.
There’s no time to change your mind. The Son has come and you’ve been left behind!!
This creep gets drunk on power, doesn’t he?
Yes! I didn’t remember that it was from a movie, thought we just listened to it and sang it.
Had to look him up: Larry Norman was the singer/songwriter and later DC Talk (?).
Grew up listening to Larry and many others. Yes you are right that DC Talk recorded it later.
Nah, I’ll just whip out one of my silver quarters from all of my metal detecting and buy a week’s worth of food.
So...what is about 19 TRILLION in debt.....ah..just print some more...
Exactly. And while they’re at it, raise the minimum wage to a real living wage, say $100 / hour, make Fannie and Freddie give 40 year 1% home mortgage loans, issue students government vouchers worth $10,000 each.......give them 10 per semester, etc, etc. Let’s let the democrats do in one year instead of eventually.
$2.4 trillion will only last one short year. agreed, there should be 100 Trillion or more. They can throw it off the fiscal cliff. Yippee!!
Looking back on history, it seems like Reagan was a but brief respite from the steady march of statism. The last truly conservative president before that had to be like...Coolidge. Ever since... We’ve been moving left. With the election of O, it just full steam ahead at this point.

Reagan never reversed the tide like he promised. He just slowed the expansion. To his benefit, he saw an opportunity to collapse the USSR because its unsustainable economic model was showing cracks (sound familiar?) and made the decision to make taking out the Ruskies his top priority. He still did an admirable job on fixing the economy.
Coolidge was, in fact, the last President to lower taxes, cut government spending, reduce the size of government and improve the economy — all in less than five years.
Boner and his cohorts will give in to protect thier rotten party, remember them, Party before people. They havent the balls to shut it down they squat when the pee
I think the GOP should let them raise it by $10 trillion. The faster we move toward economic collapse the faster we can get this country back. Its going to take a total disaster of epic proportions to wrest control away from the progressives.
