Why don't they just raise it 100 trillion or 200 trillion instead of going through this crap over and over and over. Or do away with a ceiling altogether.

Remember the stories about Germany - people pushing around wheelbarrows full of money to buy a loaf of bread?

We'll be there shortly.

Those with senators in red states up for reelection in 2014 should get on the phone.

Hey No Problemo, Esse. Future generations will be required to pay this massive debt off and Harry will be long gone by then.

What loafs of bread? There won’t be any food on the streets to buy no matter how many wheelbarrows full of federal reserves notes you have.

I doubt we’ll see another election... state and local, maybe in two years - but certainly not after that.

Then we get the blame when things taking for being obstructionist.

Let the Bush tax cuts expire and hit everyone (that pays) and let sequestration happen. We’re incapable as a nation of self governance any more.

Exactly! That is the problem with communism, the person creating the product, in this case bread, will make sure his family is fed first! the bread never makes it to the street, thus, starvation ensues, civil discourse begins when the have nots begin to attack the haves to stay alive.

Kinda like raising the floor above you, when the basement’s got 4ft of floodwater in it, makes it seem less deep.

There’s an old saying here in PA Farm Country: “Don’t eat your last apple”. (or you won’t have seeds to plant new trees and grown new apples)

IMHO—the “Reagan revolution” was what bought this country about another 30 years or so...but sadly...we’ve finally run through all that Reagan got for us—including national security....

“Thief in the night”—May INDEED be a reality soon...

Could get even worse than that.

HARARE, Zimbabwe, April 25 — “How bad is inflation in Zimbabwe? Well, consider this: at a supermarket near the center of this tatterdemalion capital, toilet paper costs $417.”

“No, not per roll. Four hundred seventeen Zimbabwean dollars is the value of a single two-ply sheet. A roll costs $145,750 —”

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/02/world/africa/02zimbabwe.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

That was in 2006.

Yes! I didn’t remember that it was from a movie, thought we just listened to it and sang it.

Had to look him up: Larry Norman was the singer/songwriter and later DC Talk (?).

Exactly. And while they’re at it, raise the minimum wage to a real living wage, say $100 / hour, make Fannie and Freddie give 40 year 1% home mortgage loans, issue students government vouchers worth $10,000 each.......give them 10 per semester, etc, etc. Let’s let the democrats do in one year instead of eventually.

Looking back on history, it seems like Reagan was a but brief respite from the steady march of statism. The last truly conservative president before that had to be like...Coolidge. Ever since... We’ve been moving left. With the election of O, it just full steam ahead at this point.

Reagan never reversed the tide like he promised. He just slowed the expansion. To his benefit, he saw an opportunity to collapse the USSR because its unsustainable economic model was showing cracks (sound familiar?) and made the decision to make taking out the Ruskies his top priority. He still did an admirable job on fixing the economy.

Coolidge was, in fact, the last President to lower taxes, cut government spending, reduce the size of government and improve the economy — all in less than five years.

I think the GOP should let them raise it by $10 trillion. The faster we move toward economic collapse the faster we can get this country back. Its going to take a total disaster of epic proportions to wrest control away from the progressives.
